    Default Captain America Costume Origin?

Back in the early 1920s, the National Hockey League expanded to New York City, with a new team called the New York Americans. They wore wildly Star-spangled uniforms. The Americans were STILL playing in NYC when Simon & Kirby created Captain America. I’ve attached a comparison of the Amerks jersey and Cap’s costume. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anybody surmising that Simon/Kirby MAY have based Cap’s look on the Amerks. The Americans were popular early on and the guys could very easily have been fans. Check it out. C33045EF-37DB-4038-A065-DE9996BEFCA2.jpg

I'm pretty sure both of those designs are just slight variations of the American flag. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Of course you’re not wrong. Lol.
Why would I want to CORRECT you?
I’m not insisting that I’ve found new evidence or facts.
I am simply wondering at the interesting possibility.
The arrangement of the motifs are very close.
I love the possibility that these guys could’ve adapted a hockey team’s uniform for their new hero.
