Good lord people, give this "Karen" thing a break, especially when it doesn't apply to Susan. Her mother died when she was a kid, her father drown himself in drinking and gambling to deal with the grief and ended up in jail for manslaughter. She had to be mother to Johnny when she was in her teens.

Do you see her having a maid, dripping in jewels, getting her nails done and lounging around all day?

You don't have to be born rich to be a Karen. She's just the "I want to talk to the manager" attitude in this. Also, she's privileged, famous and, in this, entitled.

Yup. Also, racism and bigotry aren’t always big, foaming at the mouth press conferences by the squatting President. Sometimes, it’s a white mom pulling a kid out of a mostly-black school and sending him to private school. Oh, she’ll justify it by saying she was mostly concerned with his educational standards, she’s not a racist! But she only pulled her kid out of public school after it got ‘taken over’ by ‘gang members’...not virulently, overtly racist...but still SUPER problematic. Sue is coming off like that. A ‘progressive’ who is suddenly VERY uncomfortable with her minority son hanging around with other minorities, now that he’s old enough to start questioning the narrative of privilege he’s been wrapped in his whole life.

I fully expect her to get better. After all, you can’t have Sue be a wretchedly open racist, going forward. But AT THE MOMENT, she is acting the part of a stereotypical privileged white parent, desperate to keep her preciousperfectbabyangelsweetboy from growing up and possibly growing apart from her. I GET that fear. I don’t BLAME her for that fear. But I also absolutely blame her for her REACTION to that fear. Lashing out at friends who show concern for your sons wellbeing is a GREAT way to validate those concerns, not allay them. *shrug* Sue is overreacting and leaning WAY too hard on the momma bear angle, and that is making her come across as a prejudiced Karen to a LOT of readers, so...

I love the "Franklin is exploring his culture." This argument is beyond bullshit. If he wanted to explore his culture so much, the first question he would have asked was "what's it like on Krakoa?" rather than "Power! Power! Power! Can you restore my powers?"

He's not a child interracially adopted and forced to choose between his two halves. He's an ******* who wants power. Nothing more, nothing less.
Racism is an institutional power imbalance, not blaming ‘white people’ for slavery...

When mutants have ALL the voting and legislative power, when they control the major religions of the land, as well as the law enforcement, government, media, etc and start oppressing humans? Then they’re racist. Until then? They are prejudiced against their oppressors, and for good reason.

Basically, whenever a member of the oppressor class whines about ‘reverse racism’ from those darned uppity minorities, it’s racism. When a member of the oppressed class complains about mistreatment by the oppressor, that isn’t racism.

As for Franklin? He’s a 15 year old, wealthy, entitled white boy. No wonder he’s an over-privileged ass. That’s pretty far from the point, though...

I am shocked that people are going to this much lengths paint the X-men as bad guys when they haven’t done anything to show they are. At this point your talking to Bricks bro.

No. Just acting entitled and petty at the drop of a hat and lashing out in irrational anger at her friends and family when things don’t go her way, getting herself into major confrontations based on her knee-jerk reactions, refusing to dial it down and admit she’s overreacting to the ENTIRE situation, and then demanding to speak to the managers of Krakoa, trying to go over Scott’s head to HIS manager (she’ll have Scott’s JOB for this!!!), and then not letting the manager speak before basically throwing her low fat, decaf, half-soy, half-skim, matcha tea smoothie in his face and running away while her family makes excuses and protects her.

Basically, she and Reed have this kid, see. Well, two of them. Both are blonde, perfectpreciousbabyangelsweeties. They will always be Sue’s babies, because she is their mother and loves them. But her son is getting older, and is chafing under all the restrictions places on him. (Gee, no mother or teenager acts like THAT in the real world...what bad writing and characterization...) He’s moody, he’s angsty, he’s noticing that the things he took for granted aren’t as unlimited or awesome as he thought, and...he’s sick with something his parents aren’t equipped to deal with, despite their resources, connections and overall privilege. They go to a store as a family, with Sue in complete control, as always.

Then, some friends show up and It turns out they are running my the store next door, a specialty shop catering to them and people like them, primarily. Not a place where just anyone can walk in and buy a mug. Before they can even get words out to offer to take Franklin to a place where he can learn about his peers, his powers, his people, Sue starts with the aggressive snark and insults. When they say, correctly, that they are better equipped to try to figure out what’s wrong with Franklin, she IMMEDIATELY goes on the warpath and dials up the angry mom to 11. Verbally assaulting friends and former teammates for daring to think they might be better equipped to deal with her son’s issues than she is. Physically assaulting them when verbal assaults don’t appropriately cow them. Accusing them of TERRIBLE things.

And then, seeing his mother show her ‘true’ face, and upon learning that his father - a distant man at BEST, but who clearly loves his son - has done something unforgivable ‘to help’ Franklin choose his family over anyone else, Franklin runs away. With his non-minority, non-‘sick’ sister pushing him every step of the way to get out from under Mom and Dad and explore his heritage. She helps him get on a ‘bus’ (well, boat...) to go visit the family and friends that he is realizing his parents have been DELIBERATELY preventing him from seeing.

Sue discovers her kids have disappeared in all the chaos caused by her overreactions and Reeds poor decision making skills, and instead of realizing her own part in driving him away? She doubles down. Accuses her former friends of kidnapping her son (which they absolutely did NOT do), of being ‘racist’ against her daughter (which Scott absolutely was NOT being), and other things. Rather than try to resolve things, Sue - acting like every Karen that every service industry worker has ever dealt with - ESCALATES the situation. She goes over Scott’s head and convinces her family to INVADE THE STOCK ROOM to get her child back, despite no evidence hems in the stock room. While there, she spies on a meeting of the store’s upper management and then ASSAULTS ONE OF THE DISTRICT MANAGERS. That is pretty much peak, pinnacle ‘Karen’ behavior, on a macro scale!

And then, STILL refusing to accept any culpability, she and her family flee, and are chased by security FOR BEING DISRUPTIVE AND ASSAULTING A MANAGER.

But she’s the hero. That is a Karen narrative to a TEE.

So...Sue is acting like a Karen.

some people just want the x-men to be passive bootlickers that never show any signs of possesing a spine, and are used as doormats and happy about it

    Jeez… I apparently don't know everything.
It would be logical that the feminists consider they are in the right, because it's the right thing to do, not because they are women. Having men on their side gives them more credibility.

Let's grow up and forget that crap. Memes are for the brain dead who can't think for themselves. This is more than just wanted to talk to the manager about a a bad plate of shrimp or something. This involves a child......a child that she had to suffer through a difficult childbirth to bring into the world.

    I refuse to believe that.

No PERSON should be happy to continually be knocked down all the damn time and have happiness stripped away from all the time. Honestly, I expect X-Men Fans to be HAPPY that the X-Men are finally fighting back. And the best part is that they are able to settle their differences(well certain mutants) with each other and are able to work together. But to call them Racist and Supremacist is where I draw the line and I will not have that. Because that’s False.

    So...a Karen.
Nope. Her anger comes from being a parent who's child had gone missing. She's not someone trying to return a pair of shoes and wants to speak to the manager. Your fictitious and false example is disingenuous and not even slightly amusing
