Sure you can chock it up to poor writing(which it is), but we have what we have and the FF don't look too hot right now.
Are you forgetting they bought Magneto into their home and he disrespected them in their house by calling them lesser in Franklin's presence? There's Cyclops buying into that line, too. How is that not morally questionable. Xavier's recruitment of Kitty was cold and calculating, as well. The warmth and humanity of Xavier is long gone.

I don't know much about the f4, but Scott send his son to the future so he could live becuse there was no cure for him only in the future.

Someone said Reed just wants his son to have a normal life, but his son has a chance to do that with the mutants and doesn't need to hide him self...

Charles changing tactics When it comes to mutant survival, but still hoping mankind will stop being genocidal a**hats when faced with an ‘other’ while working to make human life less crappy is not insanity. It’s a dream, evolved. Turning the other cheek doesn’t work. Hasn’t worked. Will never work. It just gives them a new cheek to hit. Charles has finally realized that with ideas MUST come action if things are to change. Ideas alone won’t win against entrenched xenophobia and bigotry. Ideas alone wont win over the complacent. So instead of continuing to focus on his childlike dream, he has clearly adjusted his dream of peace to put mutants first instead of continuing to demand that mutants stand up for people who ant them dead.

But that makes him a villain now, apparently, and a supremacist fascist cult leader...

They can do that without being fascist cult leaders. The good things about Krakatoa aren't tied to getting into bed with people who destroy civilisations as a hobby.

I think we can come up with something better than Krakatoa. It's not giving what we think it's giving.

So, like...did you READ HoX/PoX...? Cause it made things perfectly clear that the ENTIRE POINT OF This era is that the survival of the mutant race may very well depend on EXACTLY ‘getting into bed with people who destroy civilizations as a hobby’...and getting them to work alongside the rest of the species as a unified front instead of a bunch of splinter cells working at cross purposes. They have tried it every possible configuration - from being heroes, to being straight up villains, to everything in between - and NONE of it has worked. The whole POINT of Krakoa is to do something that HASN’T been done before.

Instead of continuing petty squabbles over territory, or pitched battles over failed attempts at world domination, or bowing and scraping and licking humanity’s boots and being good little dogs in between genocides the way they’ve been doing and have done in multiple different realities, mutantkind is coming together - good, bad and in between - and agreeing to follow the rules and laws laid out by the Council for the sake of the future of their race. No more putting humanity and their wants and needs and prejudices first. Krakoa is about Mutants First, but not mutants only.

Sure, most of the villains have side schemes and back up plans and what not. Of COURSE they do. Many of the worst have seen civilizations rise and fall and wouldn’t agree to these terms unless there was some benefit to them. Like a life that isn’t a constant struggle for survival and acceptance...

If Charles and the rest had tried the same old crap as always - the crap people around here seem insistent that they go back to... - that never worked, they wouldn’t have gotten the ‘bad’ mutants onboard, meaning that those ‘worst of the worst’ would still be out there, wild cards who could - and WOULD - mess everything up AGAIN. With them onboard with Krakoa and fighting for the future together, it’s a LOT easier to keep tabs on them and make sure they DONT cross those lines and fall back into old patterns.

Sure, Shaw is being awful as usual.

    Sure, Sinister is being shady.

Sure this is all likely to blow up in everyone’s faces.

    That’s comics, for ya...

But, for now, these villains are operating on an island full of telepaths and technopaths and animal speakers and plant speakers and healers and biokinetics and...they are likely under CONSTANT watch, and not just by the Krakoan leadership, but the general populace is likely keeping from turning their backs to these people. Optimistic dummies (of the sort some seem to want ALL the X-Men to be again...) May trust them right away, but I HIGHLY doubt that everyone is just shrugging and accepting with open arms and complete trust. Notice how many of the ‘worst of the worst’ tend to spend a lot of time alone or with other former villains. Hell, I would not be surprised to find that there’s an ex-Villains support group a la Wreck It Ralph!

But anyway, yeah the villains are likely being watched all the time for now, this early into things. They are being given roles and are treated as equals with full citizen rights, but that doesn’t mean people have forgotten. They’re just...moving on for the sake of their race’s survival. They have no wants here, no hunger, no sickness, no homelessness, no running from government sanctioned murderbots or angry mobs out for blood. Nor are they dreading death anymore. And the longer Krakoa manages to WORK, the more likely these villains are to become FORMER villains.

Rehabilitation over retribution, with retribution still on the table for those who (like Creed) can’t get their sh*t together....

    What an eeeeeevul fascist cult...

All Krakatoa did was buy them some time, there never truly between be peace with humanity or with themselves since everyone knows that's not how it goes in comics. Kraktoa may exist after all this is done, but don't expect this status quo to last. It's been heavily foreshadowed this is all going to collapse, the new status quo for X-men is form nations every few years that eventually get destroyed. Genosha and Utopia. What's to stop Cassandra Nova unleashing an army of Sentinels on Krakatoa again? Or someone else?

Except how this did this so quickly is suspect. Six months isn't enough to sooth those conflicts, unless there's been brainwashing on a massive scale to keep everyone "happy." Shaw being the exception, IIRC he has sufficient psi blockers. "Licking humanity's boots?" Numerous people in Kraktoa have crimes against mutants worse than humanity does. Magnetos changed tactics, slightly, but underneath he still remains tied to his ideology where mutant domination is the goal. He's simply switching to soft power and if this fails he'll go back to killing people, which is all but certain. He might drag Xavier along, as well. In multiple realities it was mutants who turned the world into a dystopia, Apocalypse has racked up that to three at present. I don't see you castigating him for this, only condemning it when humanity or the Sentinels do it. The Quiet Council are corrupt and compromised, with no accountability and filled with people whose bodycounts amount to millions.

Krakoa is about Mutants First, but not mutants only.
Whenever a country tries to say X First, it's never good. It leads to fascism. Where are all the humans on the island? There's Shogo, and he's a baby. It's hardly a popular tourist destination for anyone who isn't a mutant.

They're the one who caused them to fall. Apocalypse and Selene didn't struggle - they dominated, they were worshipped as gods. They had the power too back it up. Apocalypse was taught the Survival of the Fittest by desert nomads, he never dropped this ideology. He likes Krakatoa because the X-men are agreeing with him philosophically.

Sure, Sinister is being shady, but he’s on an island full of telepaths and technopaths and animal speakers and plant speakers and healers and biokinetics and...he’s likely under CONSTANT watch. Same with the likes of Emplate and Selene. Nothing obtrusive or opppressive, but just...enough to keep tabs. And the longer Krakoa manages to WORK, the more likely these villains are to become FORMER villains.
Nobody is arguing they have to go back to like it was, your argument hinges on all the good parts are reliant on Apocalypse making laws when it's not true. They could have had all this in Genosha and Utopia. Why are you quoted 'bad' with the mutants we know are there? Do you know why readers think they're villains? The worst of the worst will do that, anyway and there's nothing Krakatoa has to stop that. Shaw's back to his old ways and he's a salmon to Magneto's great white shark in super-villainy. Emma's regressed more into being villainous, as well. Shaw's a sign of things to come, not a game changer. That's a Tuesday for Sinister. Being watched is not proof Krakatoa can keep them on a leash. The government hasn't been tested by them yet, Omega Red and Sabretooth are small fry compared to them. Some villains will be rehabilitated, but that's not going to work with many of them and they're going to drag Krakatoa down with them.

Rehabilitation over retribution, with retribution still on the table for those who (like Creed) can’t get their sh*t together....

    What an idea...
You call Apocalypse colonising other dimensions keeping their sh* t together? Just because he's nicer isn't the same as thinking he's fully redeemed. He has a lot to do to account for 1/10th of what's done in his very long life, and what's he done for the human lives he's ruined in his wake? Not too long ago he was abducting humans for a host body which he experimented on and killed them all, where's their justice?

They're lucky the Fantastic Four don't know as much about Kraktoa or how bad the villains are who work there or they wouldn't have held back as much as they are. The Richards' could have absolutely yelled at Xavier and Cyclops about Magneto alone for what he's done. What are they going to think about Sinister, Sebastian Shaw and Apocalypse?
