Wow, this was a lot harder than expected. I knew who the Top 3 were but ranking them was super difficult. Also shocked that Anole, Bling!, Karma, Northstar and Christian Frost didn't make the cut as I really, really like them. Just goes to show how good the past 12 years or so have been when it comes to giving us LGBTQ+ X-characters.

If it wasn't for that I probably would have dropped. Iceman's solo kept interest and now the line is actually solid again with Hickman. Marauders has been a dream.

Need more gay ladies. I usually try to pick an equal number of boys and girls for my top 10 lists, but gosh, nuthing's going to make me vote for Lady Fantomex.

Yeah, when I started my list I felt it was fairly even and then it just dude after dude.

If you included the films Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio, Wolfsbane and Dani could all count.

But including alternate universes is opening a huge can of worms, so it's best not to

It's a pain and I really wanted this to be focused on 616. We have a lot more queer characters but still most are NEVER used. That's why outing Iceman was important because he will continually be seen. AND you can go back reading old stories knowing he is out later.

I just flipped through Wood's X-Men and Generation X (which is criminally underrated btw) and I tend to agree with you.

She was Bling's girlfriend at last count. That's as "real" as anything else on the list.

I don't think you could call them girlfriends. This is my interpretation...

Wood's X-Men:
- Mercury punches Bling.
- Bling is crushing on Mercury hard; Mercury avoids Bling.
- During a mission Mercury saves Bling and they chat. Bling expresses her loneliness and feelings for Mercury. Mercury says she'll go out with her if she stops being a creep.

Gen X:
- Bling is a regular character.
- Mercury doesn't show up till the last few issues (of a too short series).
- Mercury teases Bling saying "You can say that you missed me."
- They don't even stand next to each other on the final goodbye page BBQ.

Honestly... I can read this as Mercury being straight, bi, etc. This is actually a bit similar to Iceman/Northstar back in the day to a degree. You can feel the intent there but its sooooooooo vague.

That said, I have updated the list to include Jumbo Carnation, Madin (Morlock from Sina Grace's Iceman series), and Mercury.

They were literally holding hands in the last issue. The entire BBQ was for Roxy, it was her going-away party. The fact that she was the only non-Jubilee’s class X-student there besides Anole (okay Glob/Sprite were there but they don’t count) should be telling.
