What will happen to Dune? I was hoping for another tentpole franchise there, 3 movies and 1 TV show but I guess with COVID its another doomed WB venture which I seriously hope it won't be. The director and cast look promising but on the other hand my favourite novel (most of the days) will not be judged by unwashed mass audiences, if the 1st movie tanks and the sequels are scrapped.

Saw a trailer for New Mutants last night, and it's scheduled to hit the theaters on August 28th. I'll believe that when it actually happens.

They will just throw it out there cause they have to at this point. Hbo max would have the streaming rights first. So they can't put it on Disney+ or Hulu. Some theaters will be open in some capacity and drive in. Also could make money in other countries im guessing. They really are at a place where I can see them just throwing it out there even with a laughable amount of screen available in the U.S.. but even that might not be the case I've seen thing for theaters saying they opening up in a couple weeks. But yea we will see about that. Drive ins, might be all they got domestically.

Does HBO Max have the streaming rights even before PVOD (Amazon, Apple, etc.)? They couldn't put it on those platforms for $30 or whatever?

WB is hemorrhaging money after the AT&T merger. Massive cuts across the board and an increased focus on HBO Max going forward.

I imagine all of Hollywood will be watching Mulan very closely. If it's a hit, I expect others will dip their toes into the tentpoles as VOD market.

Warner exec speaks of the schedule being in flux.

Speaking at the Oppenheimer Virtual Technology, Internet & Communications Conference, which was webcast, he also said the pandemic has also been "forcing us to look at new ways to distribute content," including outside cinemas, and other ways of doing business differently.

Addressing planned upcoming theatrical releases, he said, "I am not certain where those are going to go," suggesting possible "further delays in some of the titles" as the cinema reopening and theatrical release schedules have remained in flux.

Stephens said one of the key drivers behind the WarnerMedia reorganization is to put "real focus" on the direct-to-consumer business. "I view it more as a refocusing of the company." He said it will allow for a more coherent content and international strategy as opposed to separate strategies across the various divisions.

"These transitions are tough, and there are a lot of good people who have been involved in this," Stephens concluded. "This is a transformation of making things better, not because we needed to adjust anything, but rather because we are striving to get even better" than the HBO Max launch was and "to get even better than WarnerMedia has traditionally performed."

Harkins is looking at September sometime. We'll see. I plan on going if they do.

Exactly, but if people want to go see a movie risking their and family members health or life, that’s on them.
Personally, the health and life of my family and I is more important than any movie, but apparently that’s not true for everybody.
