No, still not much of an issue.

When you have someone saying that the blade of the guillotine is already on it's descent?

You really need more than that one film company is working out a little bit different release deal.

    That's the thing though...

You've got to set aside a lot of basic reality to look at that, and go "Ruh Roh!..."

    From one of those articles...

some of its top-tier films such as A Quiet Place II, Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible 7 exclusively to Paramount+ after just 45 days in theaters.
Now, stop and seriously think about that for a second...

There is your list of cash cows.

Someone that wasn't already inclined to sign up for Paramount+ is signing up(never mind actually staying a long term subscribers as some in this thread are taking as a given...) for the first time for A Quiet Place II or Top Gun: Maverick?

    I mean, come on...

So if a streaming service doesn't go full on same day release, their monthly subscribers will all disappear somehow?
Funny, I thought they'd make a killing at the theaters while still maintaining a healthy subscriber base.

Movies are starting to move back up. Snake eyes, peter rabbit 2,. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, and the new purge movie have just moved back to summer.

I think what Kong really showed is that people want to go out to the movies as much or more than signing up to streaming services to see a movie. HBOMax reported a big increase in sign ups, but they don't report the numbers, I have a feeling that the Box Office was a bigger number, and while the subscription was good, they will loose a lot of those people after the trial period.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Or more to the point of this thread, it's all thanks to studios' understanding that streaming is not quite yet the sole future, just a complimentary one

That’s not what I’m saying. The studio will make more money with same day releases as theaters will never totally recover from covid.Theaters won’t be able to bring in enough money for this greedy studios executives. I think theaters will be phased out for non blockbuster movies. Young people today don’t need big screen and big sound, they watch movie on cell phone today.

What are you basing that on? All evidence seems to point to the contrary.

Really? Theaters aren't going to bring in the money once we get 100% past the pandemic? How? After all unless they all start charging $30~ (that should/maybe/probably not balance out the single person and large households) to watch newly released movies streaming will only make them a fraction off of the movies compared to what they make in theaters. I can honestly say that if gyms, salons, restaurants, sporting events, theme parks, bars, and Spring Break in Florida are any indication the majority of people will/are returning to theaters. My family went to see WW84 and GvK and I can honestly say for those screenings practically every seat not left empty for social distancing taken. If there is one major advantage movie theaters have over phones and streaming at home: the social obligation to be quiet and turn their phones off so they are less likely to interrupted or easily distracted while watching.
