Yesterday it was "la fete de la musique" in France, something like music day if you want.

Thousand and thousand of people were on the street, no one giving a single fck about social distance, mask or pretty much anything beside drinking, dancing and trying to get into that hot brunette pants.

Damn lucky if there are no natsy consequences in the coming weeks. (besides pregnancies)

“Irresistible” with Steve Carell and Rose Byrne is getting a same day theatrical release and VOD. I’ll bet “Tenet” will eventually do the same thing.

I doubt that. It will have a theater only release. But if no one shows up, the VOD will follow shortly.

Chicken run 2 is skipping the big screen as well and heading right to netflix. Man animated films can't catch a break this year.

I think the new normal should be both. Release in the theaters that want to be open with limited capacity and VOD. I ca't believe WW84 got pushed back again. I think at $20 a pop it would do quite well at home.

Family movies is hard to do. Taking multiple kids to a theater is almost impossible in this new normal.

I totally agree, this is going to be the norm at least until a viable treatment and/ vaccine.

Blockbusters are not going to make the $700 million to $1 billion in VOD that was expected when the production was green lit.

A shame, though I am happy I can see it on Netflix.

With fresh outbreaks of the virus spiking like crazy with no end in sight, Nolan and Warner Brothers are taking one hell of a chance by sticking with that theater only release.

    Theaterical releaese? Really?

Pretty sure it's straight VOD. I don't see it playing in theaters anywhere.

    (And I'm grateful for that).

The very little bit that I have seen read like "Select Theaters..."/"Video On Demand..."

No telling what that actually amounts to.

As for Tenet. I do remember they said there was a minimum number of theaters that need to be open for them to release it. So I still hold that if there are enough theaters open, they will release it to theaters only. If not they might delay it and not just go to VOD. So who knows? 3 weeks is still a long time these days.
