    That's fair.

I wonder if that means marvel will get the rights back to spider man if they don't get a handle on all of this soon.

Wishful thinking, but that's not happening. The only way Sony loses the rights to the Spider-Man franchise is if the whole damn studio goes under, and perhaps not even then.

So Sony won't be releasing any big movies until 2024.

Studios are gonna just have to figure out a new method...

Aren't they contractually required to release Spider-Man films by a certain time, or the rights revert to Marvel? Or do they need to be shooting by a certain time, but the release is optional a'la Corman's Fantastic Four?

Does the contract state how they are to release films? I don't think so. Making films for streaming would probably suffice.

And yeah, I believe there needs to be a film every 5 years. I really hope we're over this covid crap by 2024.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

With over 70% of theaters open domestically, the entire industry totalled just $12.5M this past weekend, down 88% vs. this same time last year, when IT: CHAPTER TWO & HUSTLERS propelled the box office to $110M.

With limited product, how can theaters even operate at a profit?

A lupin movie getting a american theater release that's not by studio ghibili? Crazy!

Most licensing agreements with regards to film adaptations only require that the studio actively produces a film.

Given that the time gap between the releases Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man was 5 years, and Spider-Man: Far From Home was released just last year, I'd say Sony is likely fine provided that the sequel remains in active production.
