Default What comes next timeline-wise after 9?

While of course we're going to see more stuff covering other aspects of the 60-year something span of the saga, and before (High Republic), I'm wondering if we'll see some continuation post episode 9.

I think at one point Lucas did consider a twelve part saga before limiting it to 9 in his original 80's plans.

While of course the prequel trilogy led to the state of things by the time of the OT, ROTJ pretty much didn't leave much clue to what would happen next, apart from Luke "passing on what he had learned". It's assumed by many that the Rebellion would restore the Republic, although I'm not sure the full name of the Rebel alliance goal being "The Alliance to restore the Republic" entered into things (The "Restore freedom and justice" I think appears in the opening crawls, but not "Restore the Republic").

I assume the resistance would probably try to do that I guess, although while TLJ seems to indicate that the First Order has pretty much restored the Empire's hold over the galaxy, ROS seems to imply they're still not quite there yet as Poe and others mention "free worlds" and the First Order seems mostly willing to accept Palpatine's fleet to become a "true empire". Either that or Ren's one year reign has been so poor he's actually lost several worlds somehow.

One thing would be how the Resistance would correct the mistakes of the two previous Republics, but that might be an issue. The sequel trilogy Republic's problem was partially that it had sort of a weak (If "Cherished" fleet), since they didn't want to repeat the militarization that led to the Clone Wars and eventually the Empire, which was the old Republic problem.
So maybe a more balanced approach would be needed?

As for Rey rebuilding the Jedi, Luke in TLJ did state the order is somewhat obselete and maybe Rey will take that advice, perhaps being a one-person force for good instead of rebuilding the order (Luke also was initially reluctant to rebuild the order as well, it seems, as most of the media pretty much has him go on a Jedi scavenger hunt until it's encouraged he rebuild the Jedi, perhaps manipulated by Palpatine/Snoke so they could get a hold of Ben)....but she does of course have potential students as we know there's other force sensitives around-not only the Canto Bight kid but of course Finn. The Poe Dameron comic series also sort of implied he had some possible force abilities too, living next to a "force tree" for instance.

Star War Adventures is doing a post-TROS comic, but nothing else in the pipeline yet.
Doctor Strange: "You are the right person to replace Logan."
X-23: "I know there are people who disapprove... Guys on the Internet mainly."

Most aliens species are going to band and form "the alliance to get ride of those filthy humans who are just making problems for everyone". (the ATGOTFHWAJMPFE)

And really, who could blame them?

Amen. Instead of trying to make an easy buck on cheap nostalgia and lazy writing, what about trying to build something people 20 years from now will be be nostalgic about?

Sounds ambitious eh? Well, you sure as hell aren't going to pull that off with people like Abrams or Johnson lads.

They did that a bit with the Legacy comic series (Now part of "Legends" canon), although it still feel into many of the same broad plotlines of the ST (Jedi wiped out again, Republic also destroyed, a new Rebel alliance etc, Empire ascendant again) although it had the interesting plotline of an Imperial Civil War-basically the relatively good Fel Empire (basically the old Imperial remnant but with reforms, but still keeping stuff like Stormtroopers etc.) vs the Sith Empire.

One of the most interesting parts was melding the Jedi with the Emperor's royal guard in the Fel Empire, creating the Imperial Knights.

Rather than going forward, perhaps do some setup in the past? Like the Old Republic.

Skip ahead at least three hundred years.

Isn't that what they are doing with the whole "High Republic" rebranding?

A lot of the new characters got wasted. I would love to seen Finn, Poe and Rose again.

Poor Finn sure got shafted in a very ungentlemanly may.

How fitting that his "nemesis" was Phasma, a wasted villain for a wasted hero.

It rimes lol as Abrams would say.

Hollywood has a long history of shafting minorities characters. Making them utterly disposable, reduced to second field of nothings, giving them villains and stories that bears no meaning to the larger scope of things [REYLO]. It was not just Finn, Rose got the shaft. If Finn was force sensitive, that could have helped these dismal ST Trilogy. Having The Force share its power with another character not just Rey.

Unlike Finn Rose was a poorly conceived character from the word go. It's time to let this "Rose was wronged" stuff go imho. If anything she did quite well for herself. The fact that such a poor character sucked up as much screen time as she did is quite the accomplishment. It's a shame because the actress is quite charismatic but Rian Johnson just couldn't get that across on screen.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, there are characters that people like the idea of. People like the idea of Rose Tico more than the actual character imho.

Finn was pretty lovable in the first movie but i never managed to like Rose.

She's written in such an annoying way honestly. And really, isn't that something who's so typical of the sequels? Captain Emo, Pinky Hair, Finn after the first movie, Rey, Luke, the incompetent ginger dude and even Poe sometimes, they are all so freaking annoying lol.

Hux was pretty competent and even a bit intimidating (The starkiller speech) in TFA, but sort of got reduced to "Colonel Sanders" (Spaceballs)-esque comic relief in the next two films pretty much. Even Vader's Imperial underlings like Piett, Veers and Jerjorodd generally seemed mostly competent (If a bit frightened by Vader), with a few exceptions (Ozzel). Hux also seemed to recall the Seperatist leaders who also weren't the brightest either.
