Default Wonder Woman - best stories by decade

Just thinking about something good to read, and I thought I'd solicit opinions. It seemed unfair to compare vastly different decades to each other, so I thought I'd ask fans what they thought were some of the best stories for each decade 1-3 stories for each decade. Not entire runs, just stories. Ones that were in-continuity when written.

Broken down on the year ending in zero, so 1951-1960, 1961-1970, etc.

Some excellent choices there! I'll add a few of my favorites that didn't make the list above...

1978: Superman vs Wonder Woman Tabloid. (All-New Collector's Edition C-54) This was reprinted in the "Adventure of Superman by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez" hardcover back in 2013 and DC is planning to do a hardcover deluxe edition later this fall!

1978: "The Cosmic Quest for the Disc of Mars" (DC Special Series Vol. 1 #9 aka "The Wonder Woman Spectacular") This story is set in the 1940s on Earth-2 back when the WW comic was following the setting of the first season of the Lynda Carter TV show. It was written by Jack C. Harris and he threw EVERYTHING in there - Nazis, Valkyries, Paula Von Gunther, The Red Panzer - it was awesome and worth seeking out. It hasn't been collected in anything so you'll have to track down the actual comic.

1980: Gerry Conway run (WW #269-278 ) Conway pretty much "reboots" WW and reestablishes her classic, Golden Age status quo. Steve Trevor returns and Diana Prince is back in Washington D.C. working for the military. Etta Candy is her coworker like in the TV show instead of a college student. The overall story involves WW battling the Kobra clan and over the course of this opening storyline we get the return of The Angle Man and Debbie Domaine Cheetah makes her debut. This is classic Pre-Crisis, Bronze Age Wonder Woman! This run has never been collected either, so you'll have to scope out the original issues.

1986: "The Legend of Wonder Woman" (miniseries) Written by Kurt Busick with art by Trina Robbins. This fun miniseries was published right after the end of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" before the George Perez reboot. It address the events of the "Crisis" and looks back on a past adventure. Fun and kinda trippy a lot like Marston's stuff, although not as kinky. This has been collected.

I haven't read much Pre-Crisis WW outside of Martston and much of the Post-Crisis I've read has already been brought up. So small list of ones not brought up.

    2000s
Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth - Paul Dini
    She's a Wonder! (#170) - Phil Jimenez, Joe Kelley
Land of the Dead (#214 - #217) - Greg Rucka

    2010s
    Wonder Woman '77 (#1 - #4) - Marc Andreyko
Batman '66 Meets Wonder Woman '77 - Jeff Parker, Marc Andreyko

I remember there was that period in the 60s where most Wonder Woman comics were nothing but Wonder Girl or Wonder Tot....not sure what was up with that....and they were beyond silly too.

I did like the one with Phantom Fisher-bird...that was an interesting villain.

    2020...

"The Witching War", Issues #14-19, in JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK. It's the best WW story, since Rucka's Rebirth arcs.
COMBINING THE BIGBADITUDE OF THANOS WITH CHEETAH'S FEROCITY, IS JANUS WONDER WOMAN'S GREATEST SUPERVILLAIN?...on WONDABUNGA!!! Look alive, Kangaliers!

I haven't read this story yet. I'm sure it's good because so far from what I've read of JLD and Rucak's work is great.
But can this arc be read on it's own, as so far (from what I've read), the previous story influences or leads to the next.

I think it can be read on its own, but I would strongly suggest reading all of the Rebirth Justice League Dark. I haven't read a whole lot of Wonder Woman, but from what I have, I absolutely love Tynion's portrayal of the character in JLD.

I also would suggest WW (2nd series) #'s 184-185. It's a little time trip story(with dinosaurs, taboot). 184 has been a grail of mine for a little while, and I recently was able to snag a nice copy of it off ebay for a reasonable price. That whole era with the Hughes covers from, I believe, early 2000's, with Luke and Jimenez and then Simonson on writing duties(there's also a nice two-issue run by Brian K. Vaughn in there) was really great.

    1987 - Wonder Woman: Gods and Mortals - Wonder Woman vol.2 #1-7
    1994 - Wonder Woman: The Contest - Wonder Woman vol.2 #90-93
    1999 - The Bearing of the Soul - Wonder Woman vol.2 #139-142
    2001 - Wonder Woman: Paradise Lost - Wonder Woman vol.2 #164-#170
    2011-12 - Wonder Woman: Blood - Wonder Woman New52 #1-6

I'd say these are my favorite to read.
