Yah I think it would be better if these issues had been released as annuals as originally intended. It seems like the special one-shot label gave us all the impression they would be more important than they actually are
I think it was in one of the X-Men Mondays that Hickman said he initially planned to do annuals. I don't think they'd chosen the focus characters yet though because those were chosen by the artists and from how he described the project at the time it sounded like he was entirely in charge of plot and story
I had no problem with this being a team book, I love Kurt’s interactions with Illyana and the others, I was disappointed that the plot was generic. I was hoping it would relate to either Kurt and his current state of mind. Or to Kitty, for example, simply making Rachel’s simulacrum into Kitty instead would have given more emotional resonance, as she has links to everyone except Eye-boy, including the Sidri.

"I really don't deserve much credit for that book. I wrote an rough outline and when the art came back Alan had scripted most of it as well.
I figured, who am I to rewrite this comic book legend? And we just went with it."
that's interesting that these ARE very colaborative in its nature
This was a pretty good one-shot adventure; some of y'all are just picky.
Honestly feels like Alan Davis did this by himself though since the old character here he hasn't touched is Eye Boy.
I swear I've seen the SIDRI before in an X-Men novel but old age sucks.
