I'm gonna go on a bit of a rant here...My grandfather was a preacher as long as I knew him and I doubt he would have ever thought highly of the mentality you are describing. My grandfather believed in God, but he also believed in doctors. He believed miracles could happen but never on demand - and that is was hubris to expect otherwise. Nor do miracles require rays of golden light and celestial trumpets - they don't always announce themselves and are often only recognized as such after the fact.

God is highly unlikely to save you from being an idiot.

"...to claps, saying that “people are healed.” ? Does this mean he was taking people's hands, or just his own?

John H. Conway, a renowned mathematician who created one of the first computer games, dies of coronavirus complications

(CNN)John H. Conway, a Princeton professor and internationally renowned mathematician who created one of the earliest computer games, has died at the age of 82.
Conway passed away Saturday as a result of complications from COVID-19, his wife confirmed to CNN on Tuesday morning.

The operator of Conway's nursing home in New Brunswick, New Jersey confirmed it had cases of coronavirus on its website. Conway had been at the facility, Parker at Landing Lane, since July 2019, his wife, Diana Conway, told CNN.

With more than 60 years of research, Conway discovered the concept of surreal numbers and invented one of the first computer games, "The Game of Life," according to his biographer Siobhan Roberts.

The author Luis Sepúlveda, the celebrated author and former communist militant from Chile during the Pinochet regime, has died at a hospital in northern Spain, AFP reports.

Best-known for his 1992 novel, “The Old Man Who Read Love Stories”, Sepulveda, who was 70, was particularly successful in Europe, where he had been based since the 1980s. TG.
I only know him from a story about a cat and a seagull… A cartoon has been made of it.

    Rip, Mr Sepúlveda.

Broadway and TV actor Nick Cordero is doing very badly.

Cordero, who is now on day 18 of being sedated, has had issues with blood clots in his right leg due to complications with internal organs and the resulting medication; the impacts of which led to difficulty in getting blood to his toes. To combat this, doctors had placed him on blood-thinners. However, those blood-thinners have since caused other issues, including internal bleeding in his intestines and drops in his blood pressure. Therefore, the difficult decision was made to take him off of that specific medication.

As a result, Kloots shared that Cordero's right leg will be amputated on Saturday. Update 6:45pm - In a new Instagram video, Kloots has shared the news that Nick made it through the surgery.

It's useful to show the faces of those with COVID-19, so we see anyone can get it.

An Obituary for an Extraordinary Ordinary Man

Cesar Quirumbay, who succumbed to Covid-19 on Sunday night at the age of 60, touched the lives of some of America’s most prominent actors, billionaires and businessmen. Yet very few people blessed by his touch ever knew his name.

For the past 20 years, Mr. Quirumbay worked at the New York tailoring shop owned by Leonard Logsdail, a London transplant who has made custom suits for people willing and able to pay $8,000 for a handmade jacket and pair of trousers since 1991. Mr. Logsdail’s midtown shop is a leisurely place, with leather club chairs and stacks of magazines and soft fabrics arranged in gentle disarray.

In the back, Mr. Quirumbay — I knew him only as Cesar — worked tirelessly, sewing and measuring and pressing, rarely speaking and never complaining about the heat of the iron or the coolness of some of the shop’s more demanding customers. He put the finishing touches on suits for Al Pacino, Leonardo DiCaprio, David Koch, Larry Kudlow and countless managing directors, doctors and dandies. It was Mr. Quirumbay’s hands that were the last to touch each garment that left Logsdail’s.
