See, I couldn’t ever take Sinister seriously when he was written as a straight, serious villain. His inherent aesthetic was, accidentally or purposefully, way too camp for that. I can’t take a dude with a rhyming Name like that completely seriously. And there wasn’t much substance to him beyond that aesthetics.

Kieron Gillen less reinvented the character and more solved the puzzle of him. Subsequent writers have definitely pushed it up to eleven, certainly. But embracing the camp makes it a feature rather than a distraction.

If you go the other way, and try to take the camp out of Sinister — at that point you basically just have Dark Beast.

Sinister is the sort of guy where he wants you to KNOW he's not some random dude. So he dresses in clothing most would run screaming from, and grabs your attention with behaviors that make him seem crazy... or crazy powerful.

He called Storm "Scott's colonial pet". Written by Kieron Gillen, Sinister proved time and time again that he was a 19th century Englishman with the typical patronizing racist and sexist attitudes of the time.


But the concept of Sinister clones, like Doombots or the three Jokers, makes that according to the interpretation you want, the current Sinister is the same one that did that or a different one.

Does any of that matter? He's a villain.

To use those words as some liberal justification. I would never expect Sinister- far too robust in his vocabulary, to use those words. But do I see him as a whole ass colonizer? Yessss. Do I see him as incredibly misogynistic? Double yes.

That’s what’s being stated, but rather there’s a lot of ignored racism in gay spaces. Because black LGBTQ+ and other QTPOC face a lot of **** from cis white gays that often goes unchecked. It’s not more likely, it’s just likely.
