Default What's the most disturbing and/or gross Horror film you have ever seen?

WARNING: Violence and disturbing themes will most likely be discussed.

For me its the French horror film Haute Tension/High Tension. Not only was it the most gory movie I've ever seen it has so many disturbing themes and scenarios and I have yet to see it again. The opening scene is especially gross and disturbing. Psychological horror at its best/worse? I got quite queasy as well. This isn't a thread really about horror masterpieces that disturbed you but ones that may have went too far and left you feeling a bit traumatized/disgusted, though classics/masterpieces can be included. With this I wasn't really disgusted (morally) but I was a bit traumatized on a psychological level and I've seen almost everything by this point.

I've heard A Serbian Filmis the most disgusting and disturbing film ever created but its also considered trash. I haven't seen it. Don't think I will unless I just want to see what the big deal is. Not in a hurry, though.

Those kind of horror movies (torture porn?) I hate passionately. For me they are about pushing limits of terror unnecessarily (how about cutting an eye?) and good horror for me isn't about that. The most disturbing movie I've watched was an Australian one... can't remember the name... very nihilistic... about tourists in the outback being hunted down. Actually I liked Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the Michael Bay remake) and Wrong Turn but The Hills have Eyes remake... too depressing a watch

Most disturbing, A Serbian Film. It was made to satirized Serbian politics and reviewer said that it basically works well like that. But I would not recommend anyone to watch it. It's about an aging porn star that gets paid to come out of retirement, but the film turns into a snuff. Sick shit in here.

Hyper realistic/Torture porn. The first Hostel still makes me cringe a lot when the wanna be doctor is fucking with the nerdier dude.

I dont mind gore in slashers, zombie movies and stuff like that. But yeah screw torture porn

The human centipede is really disturbing.

Eden Lake makes me angry. Funny games, too.

Torture porn is not my thing anymore. It bores the hell out of me. I want to see something spooky, or a great mystery.

Why? Can you elaborate on that?

    I will try:

When you watch a movie about good vs evil, you almost always root for the heroes, or the innocent, or the brave or whatever. So, you know that evil in the first part of the movie, or the latter parts seems to win or has the upper hand. The tide turns after awhile and you just know that the good will win. Thats your reward, that makes you feel good.

In both movies there is no such reward. I want to see the evil characters dead, or hurt or losing...but it does not happen. So it makes me angry, because I don't get my reward.

It happens in my subconscious. Thats a reason why many people deem movies as bad, when they have no explanation for what happened at the end, or the evil is winning, or the movie does not try to spoon fed you. (I like it, but I want to see the hero succeed most of the time)

The first time I saw it, it was the first of it's genre type that I've seen. It was appalled and disturb anyone would decide that this could be a movie concept.

Yeah, I had that thought too. And I had the feeling that the main actor, this surgeon guy, was not playing a role. He was for real...

    .
Unfortunately by the time I got around to watching it I already knew what it was going to be about so it didn't come as as much of a shock. But it was still disturbing.

For me I would say it was the original version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I don't think I got more than a half hour into the movie before I stopped watching and have never watched the rest.
