Really the only correct decision right now, considering that digital is a small enough part of the market to be largely insignificant.
It's not bringing in enough to offset the losses from the other parts, but continuing with digital will likely harm those even more than the lock-down by itself already does.

That said, was low-key looking forward to the next Marauders tomorrow, but c'est la vie.

Yikes - talk about “if life gives you only lemons, make nothing because you’ve always made orange juice before.”

No, it's a stupid decision. Alienates it's already increasingly smaller fanbase just to appease Diamond and a few retailers. Digital allows them to make money anyhwere in the world, not just the US, in a moment when they are at home and have nothing to do, so they're demanding more product. Imagine if Netflix annouced the same thing "Due to the lockdown, we won't release any new series or movies". Yeah, fat chance.

I’m guessing they won’t get a bailout either. Time for Marvel to start thinking ahead.

Netflix won't be releasing any new stuff (that was not already completed). Most all television/movie production is halted. If you are watching Netflix, you will be watching a lot of stuff that is already finished or was released already. Also, a lot of Netflix content is made for Netflix. Most comics are made for the Direct Market. There are comics made for Comixology. Those are still coming out.

Okay but with that logic the comics are done just sitting on a computer they can be released bringing in some money is better than doing nothing at all it doesn't make sense, and disrupts already established plans. Corona has no end in sight putting everything on pause because of it, especially when you have loophole to get around it is just dumb.

I'm suprised marvel dosent go directly to comic shops/ use shops to set up a direct mailing list to customers.

That may be the case. There are a lot of IFs to take into consideration. Publishers are probably hoping to get things moving within a month. So physical is going to get delayed across the board by a month. They could release the digital now, but once books start shipping again they are going to return to digital being release at the same time as physical. That means when the April books come out May (in physical) there will not be any digital releases because all those books are already on digital. If there is a month with no physical books, there will be a month with no digital. May as well just keep everything on the same schedule.

Exactly. A good analogy would be the movies that were on theathers being released in VOD. The studios could simply have waited until the movie theathers opened again, but that would be stupid.

Well, one less entertainment in this quarantine, but losing a week won't be a big deal.

I just hope that they have something planned because I agree that they will lose a lot of readers if they stop releases completely. Also, with this much people at home, digital sales might really go up, maybe do some promotion of sorts I don't know.

Plenty of films are being held off until theaters reopen.

Sure, but not all of them, and it's not like the film industry was shrinking and getting difficulties in finding new fans. Besides, a key difference is that going to the movies is itself an experience that more often than not is shared with people, and with comics it's not the case.
