Rock the Vote: Countdown of the CBR's Top/Favorite LGBT X-Men Characters (616)

X-Men has always been a book about fighting for acceptance and diversity. While the message of the book is clear the diversity isn't always represented in it's characters. To give some historical reference; Marvel Comics was founded in 1939, X-Men debuted in 1963. Northstar was the first LGBT character at Marvel; he was created in 1979, and did not "come out" till 1992 in the X-Men spin off, Alpha Flight. Cut to 2020 where will countdown 26 LGBT characters of the Marvel 616 X-Verse to reveal the favorite of CBR. The voting is in, the T is spilled, the shade is the thrown, so buckle for one of the craziest queerest Countdowns yet... hope you survive the experience!

The following three characters each received 2 points each; and believe it or not one 9th place vote each.

Honey Badger - A copy of a female copy of Wolverine. I'm not overly familiar with the character but vaguely remember hearing something about her liking a girl so I let her in. I believe she is bi?

Madin - Madin was created my Sina Grace in the second volume of his Iceman solo series. Madin is a Morlock who Iceman help and was gender non binary. Sina recently commented on that he was not allowed to use the term gender non binary and was surprised to hear that there is a non binary character in the up coming New Warriors series.

Cluster/Lady Fantomex - In Uncanny X-Force, Fantomex's three brains were split up and once took a female body. Fantomex was already in flirtations with Psylocke and that continued in this female form.

23rd: Graymalkin aka Jonas Graymalkin - 9 Points

Jonas was born in the 18th Century in Manchester, NY. After catching him in homosexual acts, Jonas' father beat and buried him. Jonas was not dead the trauma triggered his mutation and put him into suspended animation. After the events of Messiah Complex, including the destruction of the mansion (again), Jonas awakens and stops of team of Young X-Men against Donald Pierce. Jonas is friendly with Anole and has not been seen more than a cameo since the short lived Young X-Men series.

22nd: Kyle Jinadu - 15 Points

First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #508 (2009)

Kyle is the husband of Northstar. The two met through Northstar's sister, Aurora, who hired to Kyle to manage Northstar's Extreme Sporting Teams/Company(?). Kyle has not had much development but was mostly seen in Majorie Liu's Astonishing X-Men; which features his wedding to Northstar (and the first same sex wedding in Marvel Comics). We can expect to see how he is handling the new mutant nation of Krakoa in the upcoming X-Factor series which Northstar is leading.

21st: Mercury aka Cessily Kincaid Points

First appearance: New Mutants vol. 2 (2003)

Mercury first debuted in New Mutants as part of the Hellions squad. She had a crush on her Hellion teammate Wither. After M-Day she was was one of the few students who retained their powers and placed on the New X-Men squad. Mercury metallic skin was used to help create Predator X. Mercury has been nothing more than a background player since her days on New X-Men. In Brian Wood's X-Men Bling has a crush on her which Mercury found creepy. Once Bling confronts her honestly and directly asks her out, Mercury agrees. While we never see the date they do reappear together in Generation X holding hands.
