    Default Rate it: Rosenberg's run

Would have waited until Hickman reached issue 12, but with the coronavirus, who knows when that'll be.

So, now that time has passed, what are people's opinions on Matthew Rosenberg's run on Uncanny X-Men? The good, the bad, the overall, maybe rated on a scale of 1 to 5? Not sure if Disassembled or Age of X-Man counts, but feel free to discuss.

    I would say 2/5.

The start was enticing. After it went down the drain. Too bad.

I honestly don't feel like I can rate it accurately; between Fox Studios owning the film rights to the X-Men, the Inhuman stuff, and knowing Hickman was coming on board to revamp everything... it just doesn't seem fair. There were interesting storylines and what not but it still felt like it was building towards something and it never was.
I'm a fighter. I fight for normal people. But I'll never be one. I'm not a hero. Some people can't handle that.

    .5/5

Would recommend to someone for what not to do in an X-Men run.

It's hard to judge when there was a lot of things behind the scenes to screw it over, th ebleak tone was in preparation for Hickman's run.

If you’re a good writer, that shouldn’t matter.

1/5, the only reason to follow it was morbid fascination to know what new damage would do. I don't know how he managed to make an anti-vaccine, trans panic, chemtrail and teen suicide X-Men comic.

    probably 2 out of 10 ...

I'd give him credit for using some different characters and bringing back some old ones but then he'd kill them right after in a lot of cases.

There was just all these deaths and none had meaning and they all felt pointless. The whole thing feels even more meaningless now. It was just .... bad.

If they wanted the "bleak tone" they could have done a lot better.

Mediocre, it has an interesting beginning, but that's the only thing that i can say about it, the rest of the story is not worth remembering.

    Sorry.
    -5 / 5.
Completely terrible. Bad characterization. Meaningless, cheap shock value deaths every issue. No standout art. And completely bland story-wise. I've seen episodes of Rugrats with more grit and depth.

The run just made me miss Bunncanny more, along with making me finally abandon & hate a character that used to be a fav. With such horrible showing, it was a sign said character was forever doomed, which Hickman reinforced in HOX. Lol

I feel bad for Rosenberg, because it seems he wasn't doing well at the time of writing (the amount of suicidal characters alone...) but even if you ignore the distaste for the overall theme of the run, it's just really badly written. Awful twists, poorly organized plots, characters that pop out of nowhere only to get another 'shocking' death scene... It's an 1.
