Default DC Next Dawn - April Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, APRIL 2020!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    THE FLASH #9
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
    “KGB FASTER”

Troubled by the revelation that his grandfather was also metahumanly fast, the Speed Force (or is it his own subconscious?) brings Barry to a point where he can confront the currently deceased Mark Thompson: the 1970s!
Flash Fact: During the Cold War, the rapid acquisition of intelligence on the opposing side's intentions, military, and technology was of paramount importance.
Unfortunately for Barry, his grandad is a CIA asset engaged in a deadly game of spy versus spy with an Eastern Bloc speedster known as the Red Streak... Can the Flash Family overcome the fastest Soviet alive?
Я самый быстрый человек в живых.
In the present and with Barry out of the way, Vandal Savage can move forward with his plans. General Abioye Ezekwesili, the most powerful warlord in Africa, is commanded to launch a full-scale assault on Gorilla City. Wipe it off the map. But Grodd has prepared. His primate army is ready to go to war with Africa and with Savage’s Light... and to tear the Illuminati apart, piece by piece! It’s Gorilla Warfare!
And in Central City, ace reporter Iris West continues to worry over Barry’s disappearance. When her CIA contact King Faraday shows her photos taken in 1972 of the Flash in Moscow, she fears he’s been lost in time. Fortunately (or perhaps, unfortunately), there’s one “hero” she can turn to for that kind of temporal problem... the illustrious Booster Gold! But if she can actually get past his agent, can she afford to pay his consultation fee?

    GREEN LANTERN #9
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MARK MILLAR
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
    “SHOOTING STARRO”
Warning! All vessels seeking entrance into Sector 0, the system containing Oa and the Green Lantern Corps Headquarters, must submit to a thorough scan and physical inspection to ensure that no Starro spores are present in or on any life-forms.
Twelve entire galaxies are under the control of Starro. As an invasion looms, Kilowogg continues to supervise an evacuation of the sectors in Starro’s projected path. The planet Klax, however, refuses to evacuate. Normally they would be free to take their chances - but they’re a strong people, and everyone who falls to the spore swarm becomes another mentally-enslaved weapon in Starro’s arsenal. Kilowogg must make the Klax retreat, one way... or another!
Meanwhile, the panic caused by Starro is proving dangerous itself. Is there a spore on your neighbor? On your wife? On... you? Who can you trust? As John Stewart desperately tries to maintain order, the authoritarian regime of one particular planet is making it uniquely well-suited to resist the Starro invasion. Warworld is now one of the safest places in the universe, with Mongul welcoming scores of refugees... on the condition that they assimilate to Warworld’s militaristic culture. Has the universal balance of power just shifted?
And in a desperate attempt to discover Starro’s plans, Hal Jordan prepares to go undercover. The Corps has outfitted him with a “neutered” Starro spore that should allow him to infiltrate the swarm undetected. As a single spore is analogous to a single cell in a body, the plan is to avoid Starro’s notice while clandestinely recovering intel. But sometimes a small itch does get noticed... and sometimes it gets scratched!

    LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #9
    Plotted by Clark_Kent
    Written by Grant Morrison
    Art by Kenneth Rocafort
"The Slayer of Earth 4" part 5
Vicki Vale: Vampire Slayer. A decade ago, Vicki was a student at Ferris High School in Coast City, California. She had the all-American life for a girl her age...she was a cheerleader, she was popular, she had a girlfriend and a happy family. That is, until "Green Tuesday". What began as a regular day became a catastrophe for the citizens of Coast City when Green Lantern, infected by Vampire Batman, lit the skies ablaze with green flame. In an instant, the city became a crater. Only a handful of people survived.
Wandering the ashy ruins of the city, Vicki was found by The Phantom Stranger. Though he was forbidden from interfering with the course of human history, he took pity on the young woman standing before him. He imbued her with an ancient power, making her the one human with the strength to stand up to the darkness. To be a light for the people. To be a modern day slayer.
A decade later, and Vicki now wanders the world, fighting evil wherever she can find it. Though she has slain countless vampires, the Batman in Gotham has always eluded her. Perhaps now, with this party of super beings at her side, she may finally be victorious. Perhaps now, she may finally end the darkness...but there is another, watching from afar, who bears the crest of her new super friends...

    Artist BILL SIENKIEWICZ
    “How Does Your Garden Grow?”
Vic is back in Hub City but Merry, the Girl of a Googleplex of Gimmicks is staying in Santa Prisca to help restore functionality to the hurricane ravaged island. Ace reporter Vicki Vale is also remaining on the Caribbean island of Santa Prisca, covering the island’s efforts after filing stories regarding the last couple of issues’ human trafficking situation.
In Hub City, Professor Jason Woodrue’s efforts have had an unusual effect in that the amoebae he had hoped would help plants purify the water have infected him. Instead, Woodrue is sprouting leaves and other signs of plant life. Torn between his plant side wanting to find clean water and his human side knowing that’s unlikely due to the pipe problems, Woodrue comes to the obvious conclusion. He now calls himself the Floronic Man and swears vengeance against those in Hub City who either caused the problem or didn’t fix it. And that, unfortunately, includes just about everyone in the city.
Because this villain is plant-based, Vic figures that his buddy Aristotle Rodor would be a great help. Tot, however, was infected by some of those amoebae and is currently fighting for his life in the Hub City University Infirmary. What is Vic going to do against this part-man, part-plant being? What can he do? Psst, buy and read the book to find out!

I am considered an "essential" employee, so my finances have not been impacted by COVID-19 the way others have. Thus, I would like to purchase 1 of everything at this time, and if more titles are added I will come back & buy more.

Stay safe everyone. Pretend you are the ring bearer & everyone else is Nazgul, stay off the roads! And, y'know, 6 feet away from Sam
    "Darkseid...always hated music..."

Every post I make, it should be assumed by the reader that the following statement is attached: "It's all subjective. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for you, and vice versa, and that's ok. You may have a different opinion on it, but this is mine. That's the wonderful thing about being a comics fan, it's all subjective."

ACTION COMICS #7 (Before I move to another town, I'd at least cjheck to see if there's an emperor there. That might just be me, though.)
BAT-WING #9 (The phrase "fellow agent Steve Trevor bound and gagged" will make it very difficult for me to watch any episode of Wonder Woman again without impure thoughts. Just sayin')
CLAW THE UNCONQUERED #2 of 4 (Didja know R.A. Salvatore actually read my adventures? And he still became a writer. )
DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #9 (Zod left his keys in the vehicle? I need to find out the relevance and meaning behind that story point before I make a stupid joke that's unappreciated.)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #9 (Skeleton walks into a bar and orders a beer and a mop. Thank you, I'll be here all month.))
DETECTIVE COMICS #7 (This is seriously a great story idea.)
THE FLASH #9 (Nobody said there'd be history in these books! Girl I went to HS with was asked why she did so well in history. "No dates," she said.)
GREEN LANTERN #9 (And now science! It's like I'm being homeschooled with these funny books.)
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #9 (The phrase "party of super beings" should be all that's needed to sell a book)
THE QUESTION #9 (It was too bad the writer took Merry out of the picture in the issue entitled "How Does Your Garden Grow?" Guess maybe they shoulda read more.)
RED X #9 (This is why I haven't bought any new clothes since the 1900s.)
SENSATION COMICS #9 (AMAZONS! IN!! SPACE!!! nuff said)
