I forget, who was Bentley? Did Stern or Walter Simonson write the Death of Marianna story where Namor uses the Ebony Blade to kill his wife?

I think Stern had been fired around the time Marrina was killed. That's when things started to really suck.

Stern was gone by the time the Marrina story happened in Avengers #291-293- that period was Ralph Macchio, Editor Mark Gruenwald (whose normally much better) and mostly Walt Simonson (who I have to believe was under heavy Editorial mandate with a lot of what he wrote dismantling all Stern had built). Stern's last issue appears to have been #285 the finale of the Avengers vs Olympians story. I remember at the time not being aware of the creative team shuffling going on and wondering "WTF IS HAPPENING TO THIS TEAM?"

Back to Dane, I think my favorite period (albeit brief) was his resurgence in HEROES FOR HIRE linking him back to the Lady of the Lake and all that Pendragon-y stuff.


Though I missed his stint in CAPTAIN BRITIAN and the MI13 book. I liked his dress down look quite a bit! Hearkened back to his Harras Avengers look, but without that troublesome light saber.

Obviously miscoloured then. There was a minor error on Captain Britain's too, the part of his cowl that covers the chain was all white, but it's meant to be part of a Union Flag and so should be red.
