The first ten or so issues of the "5YL" Legion were a great "getting the team back together" story.
All-Star Squadron #31 (May, 1984):

The first 12 issues of L.E.G.I.O.N '89
I call these issues "Comic Book Writing 101" because Keith Giffen and Alan Grant laid down a foundation of characters and storylines that kept that book moving for over 50 issues.
I'd also give a thumbs up to Marv Wolfman & George Perez for New Teen Titans (1980) and to James Robinson & David Goyer for JSA (1999)

Funny thing is, I think only four have non-white male successors? Star Spangled Kid's mantle was inherited by Stargirl. Zatanna replaced her father Zatara. Johnny Quick's successor is Jesse Quick. And Mister Terrific is now a black guy. Technically you can say that Flash and Green Lantern have female successors too, but they aren't the primary heroes of those names (Avery Ho and Jessica Cruz, who never replaced their golden or silver age counterparts).
I'd like to mention another origin story. New Teen Titans. Raven gathers everyone up, bringing Kid Flash out of retirement.

DC doesn’t really do successors, do they? Or at least not as much as Marvel does perhaps, like how just about every hero on the 2010s Champions was a direct teenage version of a previous hero. Maybe DC feels content focusing on black characters such as Cyborg, Amanda Waller, Black Lightning, and Vixen? Even John Stewart as a new version of the Green Lantern feels like he has been expanded enough to stand on his own, despite what you said. Then again, I suppose some fans feel even they could get a lot more attention than what they’re already getting.

I really liked the way that Meltzer's Justice League came together.
Pre-Crisis Earth-2 was all about successors.
Pre-Crisis, mostly members of Infinity Inc:
Robin (Batman)
Star-Spangled Kid/Skyman (Starman)
Power Girl (Superman)
Huntress (Batman)
Fury (Wonder Woman)
Jade (Green Lantern)
Obsidian (Green Lantern)
Northwind (Hawkman)
Nuklon (Atom)
Silver Scarab (Hawkman)
Doctor Midnight (Doctor Mid-Nite)
Hourman (Hourman)
Wildcat (Wildcat)
And Brainwave gets a mention (Brainwave).

Suicide Squad "The Phoenix Convenant" or whatever it was called. Team was missing/kidnapped and Batman had to bring them all back together.
