Default Diamond Reveals Plan to Reopen Comics Industry in May

    https://www.cbr.com/diamond-reopenin...-may-covid-19/

"While there are many steps and conversations that need to happen between today and resuming distribution of new weekly product, we are currently targeting mid- to late-May with the hope that, as an industry, we can all work toward that timeframe. Of course, as we have all seen, target dates sometimes need to be adjusted in this ever-changing new-normal. But we cannot wait for firm dates. We have started the planning process and are having these important conversations with publishers and retailers so that once we have more clarity, we are in a position to restart and scale operations over time".

    Let us pray.

Expect to see huge overhaul in the comic book supply chain flow to happen after this settles down.

Great news, but we still could very well see a second wave of this. Let's just hope that these businesses can figure stuff out before then and not get caught up in pushing out everything as fast as possible only to find themselves in a worse situation.

Mid May is too late. They should start on 1st of May instead.

This seems to be a tentative decision made to give some "hope".
As they rightly said...a definitive release date is dependent on a number of external factors being logistically sound.

The Publication/Distribution-side is one thing, though.
Going forward...I do hope LCBS rethink their in-store policies when it comes to purchasing and retailing, also. The idea that they enable many customers with books "on hold" amounting to thousands of dollars of in-store revenue, for months. The idea that they continue to feed into Marvel and DC's excessive practices...just to name two...they need to make changes to ensure they are never in this current position ever again.

Thankfully nations are in a better prepared state now should a second wave come in, in front of it rather than behind it.

Many states in the US won't likely be "open" by May 1st, which means many comic book stores and possibly Diamond warehouses will still be closed.

That's why if we do a three month reprieve or so in the summer changes have to be made.

They should have stuck with digital distribution

Yes. It reads as don't go digital or set up alternate distribution plans the end is right around the corner even if its not.

As much as I'd love to see the new comics sooner, the epidemic is so bad that I don't really expect to recover in late may... Is it really ok to get back to work so early...

In the US, it seems if the 5 to 6 metrics are met then a state is in a good enough place to start soft openings. The metrics aren't that easy so it may take a while for some, and then employers have to put strict policies in place until they accomplish the phase 3 criteria.
