I think I like these versions better! But I can see if they're harder to draw if they plan to use these designs a lot. They have too much of that real-life look with the padding/tufted textures you see so often in movie designs.

Jean's costume is the most improved compared to the original series. Oh, how I hated her look there.
This seems like a fairly sensible placeholder design for merch and stuff leading up to the first MCU mutants, which is still years off. A lot more people remember the animated series than read all the books like we do - we’re talking like Wolverine boxer shorts in Walmart/ASDA here.
Jean's redesign is by far my favorite. It is faithful to the 90's look but modern. It actually really compliments Wolverine's Astonishing Xmen costume. I LOVE her boots! I recolored it in several different colors over on my instagram page I wish she wore this in the comics, and not the Marvelgirl dress or the X-men RED/Green Yellow armored outfit.
The classics are usually the best.
