Thank you for sharing this , I understand it´s different for each migrant and his/her own experiences, the immigrant people I know identify in some way with their country of origin or try to know more about it if they get interested, of course this is not the case for all but it´s not rare.

Formally I describe myself as Hispanic American and my family comes from Puerto Rico. But I'll also just say I'm Puerto Rican for brevity.
