    Default Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

Some artwork debuted today as the 'reveal' along with the title, with a trailer tomorrow (although it's unclear if it'll show any gameplay). As reported, it's set during the Viking era (Around 800-1000 ADish) which timeline-wise places it between Origins and the first game, although I'm guessing the 'present day' storyline with deal with Layla again, and possibly the consequences of what happened in the Atlantis DLC. Either that or an anonymous Abstergo employee or Assassin which is what the series did from "Black Flag" to "Syndicate".

It'd also perhaps give more looks into how Bayek and Aya's order sort of gave way to the corruption seen in Altair's time as well. Maybe reveal Thor was an Isu or something as well.

    It'll be a PS4/XB1 release then?

I wasn't entirely clear on that. (Although, using Black Flag, they'll probably do a cross-platform before moving entirely over).

    Confirmed for current-gen systems.

There's also a few gameplay screenshots, looks like of course they'll be ship combat (Which skipped the Helix/Pheonix storyline but was brought back in limited form in Origins, and in a big way in Odyssey).

Gameplay looks like it'll bring back the customization HQ/"renovation" stuff that's been an on-and-off feature of the series, except this time for a Viking settlement.

Love the games ima play it day 1 but wtf. Its a Assasins creed game about someone who probably isn't gonna follow a single assasin trope. He doesn't strike from the shadows, he runs up a hill screaming for Odin while swinging an axe. Im exaggerating but still seems like a weird choice and the trailer seems like its gonna more Black Flag. Fun game but doesn't feel like a game about assasins because the protagonist isn't really an Assasin. Guess Odyssey would fit that too but that felt like a precursor and Origins was a direct precursor. This is gonna be about a bad assumption viking warrior who stumbles into some precursor artifact and a war with the Templar. But who knows maybe he gets taken in by the assassin because they have a common enemy King(???) Did they say which King that was in the trailer or what year?

Anyway the more I think about it they could actually make this a more directly connected game easily. You would need to either have the protagonist come across the Order or show the order spread to Vikings land awhile back and he comes from a line of legit Assasins. Regardless despite him being a viking stealth gameplay will without a doubt play a factor similar to Odyssey im sure. Sometimes is a all out war and sometimes you gotta get in and out alone..excited for this game. Hoping this protagonist is likable. Etzio was great and the only one I loved. I really liked Edward and Bayek though but they never got the development Etzio got imo. He obviously had 3 games of his own so...

I feel like they only really had the Assassin/Templar conflict figured out as far as the Desmond storyline.

After that, it was just finding some way to squeeze that in while they told stories about Western ninjas in historical settings.

These games haven't pretended to be about assassin's since AC3.

They're saying the story will "continue" from Origins and Odysssey, which I suppose could either mean that has both the Assassins and the Templars sort of settling into their regular structure/names (I think in Origins they're still called "Hidden Ones"), or the continuation of Layla's storyline, which I wonder will deal with the fallout from her actions with the staff in the Atlantis DLC. I'm guessing it's the latter since Layla is confirmed as returning.

Well I don't think thats true its really just Black Flag and Odyssey. Which imo are two if the funner games. So maybe they should just worry about making amazing games set in that world and let Templars and qssasins fit in naturally. Don't crowbar them in like they felt in Black Flag. Cause I liked Edward and liked the story of that game. But he didn't need to be an assasin. He could assisted the Assains against a common enemy without the whoke murdering an assaisnn and taking his place thing.

Edward actually impersonates one that was on his way to defect to the Templars, and he doesn't actually commit to the cause until close to the end of the game.

As for Odyssey, the DLC ties Kassandra closer to the series lore and Origins.

I suppose some shots could be from gameplay (Some parts of the siege warfare I think) but yeah, that seems a lot more cutscene than gameplay.

Although I suppose it could also mean that these are from the game while the other trailer was just a bit of a teaser. A lot of the other AC trailers showed off stuff that was never in any cutscene or gameplay, but just were meant to show off the game's setting.

Story trailer. Doesn't really get into the overarching story unto the end with the Viking donning the hood and what could be Templars (Or their equivalent at this time) near a statue of Mithras. Although there's a bit of the hidden blade, an eagle, and a glowing chest which I suppose might contain a piece of Eden.

Am I mistaken or does the trailer imply the male player character have a female wife upfront. You would think they would learn after all the controversy about the DLC over forced het romance with Odyssey...

Edit: My bad, it’s your friends wife.
