Best Star Trek Captain

Let's have some fun.. Who do you think has been the best Captain in Star Trek and why?

I love the franchise and have seen all the movies and TV shows except Enterprise, Discovery and Picard. I still don't consider myself an expert in the subject, but my favorite is still James T. Kirk as played by Shatner. Was he the best? I don't know, but I liked his style and determination and swagger a lot. I think he followed his instincts and always did what he felt was the right thing. He was fun to watch!

That said, I also liked Sisko, Picard and Janeway quite a bit. They all had their moments to shine and some interesting personal development tha shaped them.

Pike is the best. Calm, rational, and willing to listen to his subordinates. Yet still believable as a Captain of Action when the scene calls for it where you kind of had to roll your eyes a lot of the time with Picard and Janeway.

Second choice would be Lorca up til the mirror universe reveal. Before that he was awesome as he was snarky yet efficient.

My favorite is Sisko then Kirk but TNG Picard is probably the ideal Starfleet Captain.

Kirk is more interested about running around shirtless than keeping his crew alive, i have some serious doubts about Sisko's mental health, Janeway can't stand when someone doesn't agree with her and Archer is written as a character from a Transformer movie.

Picard now, serious, competent, capable of pulling a coherent speech about any subject on the spot (which is a vital skill for a Star Trek captain) and has a good catch phrase.

Come on, what else do you want?

Pike is underrated. He needs to get more credit.

Discovery Pike elevates the show quite a lot. I almost want to cry knowing he still meets that awful fate.

Except Sisko was actually a dad, and a pretty good one, at that! Picard was a lot of things, but paternal wasn't really one of them.

sisko. besides the obvious reasons of being just a badass, he is the only captain to actually have a family, with a wife and a son. he had his flaws but he always owned up to them. and he was very close with his crew.

then there's the whole "alien Jesus" thing going for him.

Kirk is my all time favorite.

But from what little I've seen of him, I think Discovery Pike might actually be the best.

I literally can't think of a single bad thing to say about him. Calm, rational, professional, and seemingly a really really nice guy. He's the closest thing I can think of not only for an ideal Star Fleet Captain but an ideal human being in general.

He's the ideal Star Fleet Captian like Picard, except he's got Kirts humanity. The only way to really top that I guess would be to add a dash of Sisko's bad assery, but it's not like Pike is entirely lacking that either.
