After Netanyahu fired his defense minister for disagreeing on the gutting of the separation of powers in Israel, the architect of the plan, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, now says he'll be fine with just pretending they never came up with the idea.
Looks like the protesters have won.
I don't think it's exactly what the Justice Minister said (on the links below, both ~30 mins ago):
Israeli justice minister would 'respect' any decision PM makes about reforms
Yariv Levin, the Israeli justice minister, has said he would respect any decision Benjamin Netanyahu makes about the future of his judicial reform proposals.
He added that a lack of unity in the government could bring the plans down.
"A situation in which everyone does as they wish is liable to bring about the instant fall of the government and collapse of the [ruling party] Likud," Mr Levin said.
"We must all strive to stabilise the government and coalition."

Hold my beer - things in France aren't finished yet
Interestingly, from what I've seen the protests in Israel have been far more peaceful than the ones in France, so if the former get what they want and the latter do not, that's an interesting takeaway on violent protesting.

It's quite interesting that a left-wing party in power have decided to elect a man that decided to skip a key vote on gay marriage because of "religious pressure", as he's a devout muslim:

So Smotrich whose people briefed just a few hours ago that they understood the legislation would be suspended has now said that it must go ahead and is calling for supporters to come to a rally in Jerusalem outside the Supreme Court. Netanyahu and the far-right want a showdownhttps://twitter.com/AnshelPfefferRight-wing front groups now starting to fill Twitter with promoted tweets calling for an “Emergency Situation - We’re going to Jerusalem! We won’t allow the election to be stolen from us”. Netanyahu’s looking for a showdown on the street
He cannot win this, but he is willing to see some blood spilt as he is losing.
