To the GQP and the fearmongers on Faux News, the report about the shooter being transgender is literally mana from heaven. It’s the perfect distraction from the REAL issue, that being yet another assault weapon in the hands of a civilian to murder innocent people.

It matters because the political party with an outsized control larger than their voter base (thanks gerrymandering, electoral college, and stacking judges for decades) and their propaganda machine F(U)ox "News" has spent decades blaming school shootings and mass shootings on literally everything but our lack of gun control here in the States - and for a decade or more now they've also been ramping up their hate rhetoric against the trans community to "not quite Nazis talking about Jews before Kristallnacht but getting there" levels. And now they have an excuse, as wrong as it is, to deflect blame away from guns and onto the trans community they've been demonizing, despite the fact that until now every school and mass shooter has been a cis male and very often conservative.

Basically imagine if there was a legally sanctioned Nazi party in your country with about half the political power in your country, a history of protecting guns and gun violence and denouncing the trans or lgbtq+ community in general, and suddenly these Nazis were given the Christmas present of a story to further increase their verbal attacks against said community.

That's what just happened. The Nazis have just been given a story to paint trans people as coming for the children with guns. And they're gonna run with it for all year long.

So If I was a kid, and I was suddenly told I couldn't sing a song because it was too 'controversial'... guess what I'd start singing at that show?

Just a reminder that more than one mass shooter has been incorrectly identified by conspiracists as trans in an effort to drum up anti-transgender hate. If this one is legitimately a transgender individual, the right will eat this up as 'proof' of what they've claimed all along with the false allegations.

On this date in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, as well as 2022, “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day”posted profiles of Kelly Keisling, a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives who prior to the 2012 election, made headlines by sending out an e-mail forward from his government account that contained a conspiracy theory that the Obama administration was going to stage a “false flag” assassination attack to institute martial law in major cities and prevent the elections from happening. The theory, insane as it was, originated from a Canadian conspiracy theorist and was then circulated through the hard-right conservative crowd via the Constitution Party of Florida, and their forwards eventually found their way to Keisling’s inbox. After widespread criticism, Keisling defended forwarding the e-mail to his constituents, saying, “I wouldn’t put anything past anybody.”

As a legislator up until this point in his first two terms, had voted to nullify the Affordable Care Act, voted for stricter Voter ID laws to disenfranchise tens of thousands of voters to prevent statistically non-existent in person-voter fraud, had voted to prevent enacting the United Nations’ Agenda 21 environmental treaty, voted for abstinence-only sex education in Tennessee schools, voted for abortion to be outlawed if a fetal heartbeat is detected (i.e. six weeks in, before many women even realize they’re pregnant), voted to bring back the electric chair as a valid method of execution in the Volunteer State, and voted for every pro-gun bill that flew through the Tennessee state legislature prior to the 2016 NRA convention being hosted in Nashville.

In 2018, Keisling has co-sponsored a fetal heart abortion ban in Tennessee that would effectively ban abortion at 6 weeks, or before many women even realize they are pregnant, and voted for a bill to allow adoption agencies to refuse to allow couples to adopt children based on “religious exemptions” like deciding that they’re just going to discriminate against gay people rather than let a child be adopted into a loving family because of some twisted ideology.

Throughout the 2021-2022 term, Keisling went back to work to help his constituents during the Covid-19 pan… nope. Just kidding… he was one of 29 Tennessee Republicans who went “all in “ on Donald Trump’s “Big Lie’ and signed on to a letter encouraging the Tennessee GOP caucus not to certify the results of the 2020 election (which, y’know, led to the Capitol Attack on the day after he sent it), he was a co-sponsor of HB 23, Tennessee Republicans’ attempts to go full-fascist and be able to remove judges who overturn any laws they write, (citing a judge who supported absentee voting in 2020 as an example) removing the ability to do so from voters, as well as voting for SB 623, a bill to prevent the teaching of “Critical Race Theory” in K-12 schools even though no one is even teaching the conservative buzzword in public schools anyway.

And that, for whatever reason, did not cause anyone to attempt a primary challenge from his party, and he was allowed to run for re-election in 2022 completely unopposed. He’s taken that mandate to try to ban drag performances in the state, and tried to prevent transgender youth from seeking medical treatments to further their transition.

After 12 years in office, sedition, conspiracy theories, and attempts at legalizing bigotry are most of what this stooge has to show for it.

Not all white men are mentally ill. Some of them including Dylann Roof and 2022 Buffalo mass shooter are racists who used mental health problems as an excuse for their actions. Orlando nightclub shooter was an anti-gay bigot.

Agreed. That is very true. This reminds me of the time when the media openly mentioned 2009 Fort Hood shooter being a Muslim terrorist who declared Jihad upon fellow American servicemen.


Virginia Tech shooter and Lunar New Year shooter were Asian Americans. Washington Navy Yard shooter was an African American.
