Britney Spears's ex, Jason Alexander, indie musicians Ariel Pink and John Maus and filmmaker Alex Lee Moyer were among those storming the Capitol.

West Virginia Politician Who Livestreamed Himself Storming the Capitol Is a Notorious Anti-Abortion Radical

When I read the news reports that Derrick Evans, a newly elected member of the West Virginia legislature, livestreamed himself storming into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, I went, “hmm, I know that name.”

I know that name, as do West Virginia’s abortion advocates, because before Evans won his election in November, Evans was most-known as the ringleader of the weekly protests by anti-abortion radicals at the Women’s Health Center, the sole abortion clinic left in the entire state. Before a restraining order was filed against him by a volunteer clinic escort, Evans would regularly show up outside of the clinic, and, according to the clinic staff, would harass and threaten both patients and the clinic’s staff.
According to news reports, Evans now faces federal charges for illegally entering the Capitol.

Like the one who flew there on her private jet? Her economic anxiety was HUGE.

Edit: Too slow on that joke.

On this date in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, as well as 2020, “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day posted profiles of U.S. Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska, whose influence behind the scenes in Republican politics began back during the Bush administration, as he kept getting appointments and promotions that smelled of the good ol' boy nepotism that Dubya's time in the White House was known for. With some help from a big endorsement from conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin, Sasse stormed to the head of the GOP Primary, and easily won office in a mid-term election year in 2014. This in spite of the fact that he wants to ban all abortion and most forms of birth control, because life begins at conception and is not just, as he puts it, "a blob of cells", that he believes that "if the Affordable Care Act lives, America as we know it will die", that he believes the "religious beliefs" of an organization like Hobby Lobby should not be violated so they can make healthcare decisions or citizens, that we should ban same sex marriage, and in his weirdest belief, that the U.S. Capitol should be moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Since taking office, Sen. Sasse has spent his time trying to defend the 2nd Amendment rights of suspected terrorists that we don't even trust to get on a plane, trying to strip funding from Planned Parenthood over the fake "sting" video produced by the anti-abortion group the Center for Medical Progress, and undermining U.S. diplomacy by being one of the "#47 Traitors" who sent a letter to the leaders of Iran, hoping to sabotage the nuclear treaty being negotiated by the Obama administration.

Now, over the past few years, Sen. Sasse seems like one of the more sane members of the GOP, what with how he announced he would not be attending the 2016 Republican National Convention by saying he would "rather take his kids to watch some dumpster fires", and repeatedly criticizing Donald Trump throughout his administration, we’ll note that Sasse still voted for every single member of the Trump “Cabinet of Horrors”, voted to put Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court, voted for the “skinny repeal” of the Affordable Care Act, and voted for the atrocious GOP tax plan/scam.

It’s not words that count, Senator, it’s actions. And what we’re seeing is you’re consistently acting against the interests of the American people. We’ll continue monitoring the young Senator, and eagerly await the moment where he starts voting like the moderate he pretends to be. He’s even been called out for his hypocrisy on things as simple as a government employee (say Ivanka Trump versus Hillary Clinton) using a private e-mail for government business when he blunders onto the Late Show with Stephen Colbert (who is a canny interviewer, frankly).

True to form, when the chips are down Ben Sasse turns on his own. He was caught on audio criticizing Donald Trump in October of 2020, only days before the election, telling constituents that Trump "kisses dictators' butts" and has "flirted with white supremacists." (While still voting for everything in his agenda.) And yet… in spite of him being a duplicitous twit, Ben Sasse easily won re-election in 2020, because his Democratic opponent was Chris Janicek, who the Democratic Party nominated for office and discovered too late, was a creep not fit for office.

Ben Sasse has thus been awarded another six years in office, and is already ready to get back to work denying the American people any stimulus aid they might need during the Covid-19 pandemic, when he isn’t developing enough of a conscience about his party attempting a violent coup in the Capitol Building and telling the media he has friends who are aides at the White House who reported Donald Trump was “delighted” with the rioting in our halls of power and didn’t seem to understand why everyone else was so upset about it.

We’ll expect he’ll attempt to side with “reasonable” Republicans in the wake of 1/6.

Short and sweet: Each and every politician who participated in the storming of the Capitol should be arrested, then thrown out of Congress. Shitstains like Cruz and Hawley should be brought up on charges of sedition, if not accessory for murder in the death of that Capitol policeman and also jettisoned. Trump will get his after he leaves office, but his gutless enablers in the GOP should also be made to pay a heavy price to prevent anything like that from ever happening again.

Maybe those “poor working class volk” think they are the poor working class folk. But are they?

So my aunt was really upset this morning. my cat Mugger was on one today. At 5am he started to meow like crazy, knocked a couple books of a shelf in the living room and chased our other cats. She was mad because it woke her up and she couldnt go back to sleep.

I told her she was mad at the wrong thing. it was not my cat Mugger. It was Antifa dressed in a little black and white fur coat causing trouble trying to make Mugger look bad.

She was less then amused at my attempt at wit.

But of course. it has been a stressful couple of days. Everyone needs a laugh. It most certainly was not an attempt to make fun of her or her batshit crazy theories.

Getting Hawley out should be a priority

he's canny enough to pull from the Trump playbook and he isn't a functional idiot

I think platforms like Twitter and Insta just blocking these folks and honestly, this forum should follow suit

anyone supporting or even excusing this HERE needs to be perma banned

    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...pitol-n1253581

An arm of the Republican Attorneys General Association, a national group representing the top law enforcement officers in their states, sent out robocalls encouraging people to march to the U.S. Capitol the day before the building was stormed by a pro-Trump mob.

“At 1 p.m., we will march to the Capitol building and call on Congress to stop the steal,” said the voice on the recording, which was obtained by NBC News.

The calls, which did not advocate violence or suggest the building should be breached, was sent out by the Rule of Law Defense Fund, a fundraising arm of the Republican Attorneys General Association. The groups share funding, staff and office space in Washington, D.C.
