This has nothing to do with the merits of the draft of the Supreme Court decision, and isn't necessarily indicative of a response, but I thought it was interesting that no one at work mentioned it.
    Sincerely,

That would make me very disappointed in my co-workers.

When it comes to parties respecting constitutional rights, it does seem to me that Republicans are better able to articulate constitutional arguments and to understand that sometimes it means they won't immediately get the policy objective they prefer.

Other people make the mistake of blaming Trump or Trump voters for the likely Supreme Court decision, implying that he's the only one who could have pulled this off. If President Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio or Mitt Romney had been elected in 2016, we would likely have the same outcome right now. In blaming Trump, they're encouraging others to give him credit. That type of rhetoric makes him stronger in the 2024 primary and increases the chances that he'll be back in the White House.
And it didn't even cost cons taking climate change seriously like you offered as a potential compromise before!

Absolutely. I’ve said this in a previous post, the LGBTQ+ community is the only marginalized group that’s safe for Qpublicans to attack without fear of blowback or consequences. Just my uninformed guess, but I’m guessing same sex marriages will be first to get the chop, and that figures to includes unions already in place which will be wiped out. Next comes the all out assault on the transgendered, especially transwomen after Lia Thomas stoked the GQP’s hate engine, lastly, erasing anything and everything in the way of hard earned rights for gays, the goal being to return them to the closet and second class status as citizens, if not lower. If Qpublicans get away with that, eliminating voting rights and civil rights for people of color will be next. That too isn’t hyperbole.

I don't know what the exact order will be, but I know you aren't engaging in hyperbole at all in your post. Scary times are ahead.

I tried telling a friend of mine that the make up of Supreme Court could lead to a very right wing country. One that is like V for Vendetta unless there is checks and balances to keep power divided in court. He told me how I was wrong (he tries this stance a lot) and that the Court wouldn't have power. He even doesn't see what the big deal is with Roe vs. Wade.

As I tried to explain states can pass unfair laws against women to restrict them to points that they can't get one. That they are literally taking a woman's right away if Roe vs. Wade went away.

Dark times are ahead and turning the country to a hard right direction.

If Hillary had not run in the 2016 election but let Bernie Sanders get the nomination, Trump would not win and would also not nominate three SC justices.

You do not know this. How do you know how those 3 States would have gone? Sanders would have been pilloried as a SOCIALIST. How do you know he wouldn't win the popular and lose the Electoral College by .05% of the vote?

Hillary also lost the election. Maybe she should have let Joe Biden run in the 2016 election instead of getting into the race for presidency. Maybe Biden would have won in 2016.

Bernie was never going to be president, even if he got the nomination. Bernie should have just settled for being an influencer in the Senate, where he could do more good.

Biden had just lost his son; he had no desire to run in 2016.

Also, Hillary won the popular vote. It's only because we are saddled with the electoral college that we got Trump as president.

And a reminder, the Electoral College was created to give slave States more power. And it is still allowing a racist minority to take power.

Biden also nearly didn't run in 2020. He finally decided to do it as a last chance deal as he knew he was a long shot at near 80 to do this.
