Imagine getting all your news from Alex Jones or OAN.

These guys brains are rotted. And I’m not even joking.

Their brains have been completely fried on right wing conspiracy theories ....I wasn't surprised when he dropped the name Alex Jones.

The new far right is becoming an increasing concern, they are growing, and their soon to be loony tunes ex President wants to start up his own digital news program to preach to his followers that the mail in votes stole the election, that your vote doesn't matter, (or if your Alex Jones) that there is a conspiracy to turn the United States into a multicultural nation to impose socialism.

It is a rotten ideology, being perpetuated by mentally unstable men with money.

I don't get it. Conservatives win popular vote fair and square in other democracies...Thatcher won that way, David Cameron too, even Boris Johnson. Canada has had conservative governments too. Angela Merkel is super-popular in Germany.

It's only American conservatism that believes they need to restrict votes to hold on to power, and it doesn't make sense. These guys had Reagan and he won the pop. vote fair and square...I don't like the fact, but it did happen, and a Republican candidate can carry the day somewhere down the line.

I think this particular issue is because current leadership in the GOP has to survive primaries where the most rabid and far right sections of the party dominate the nomination process... but simultaneously can’t dominate the general election the same way.

To win the primary, GOP members take alienating positions that won’t attract moderates or the center, and to ensure they can maintain power, they become more heavily reliant on suppressing equitable representation.

And speaking of horrible people, here's a new congresswoman heading to Washington DC next year.

I'm curious whether she makes her children wear seatbelts.

I wonder if it's a case of GOP the party or the far right elements hijacking the party and forcing the moderate-at-heart towards the extreme spectrum. Probably both.

America since Clinton is bought and paid for in a way that none of those other countries are.

It makes perfect sense in that context. It's got nothing to do with "Fair And Square..." It is about looking out for the gravy train.

No surprise at all. The whole appeal of Fox and people like Limbaugh is that they are telling Conservatives 100% what they want to hear. That Fox becoming even mildly realistic is driving them away and even deeper into Looney Tunes absurdity like Jones or OAN is classic cult reaction. Expose yourself to no information that contradicts the cult.

It does concern me that the so-called information age is really taking Conservatives to the point of being a Saturday morning cartoon level of sheer lunacy and utter denial of facts, evidence and reality. And they represent half the population or at least a very significant amount of it, people who belong in a mental institution who are instead voting and influencing policies.

I agree with you, the new far right is taking the form of a religious cult, because it is totally void of any logical beliefs based of rational empiricism and verifiable facts.

The thing that disturbs me about it though, is that even though (Much of it) tends to deny the scientific racism & segregational views of traditional white supremacists, there is still this narrative that if immigration isn't controlled soon, and whites become a minority, American civilization will lose its cultural identity and enter into decline.

(Hence Ann Coulter's pronouncement to put a moratorium on immigration to prevent the US turning into Brazil) That really creates an all or nothing siege mentality amongst their followers, so I'm not surprised when I see militia men calling for civil war.

As for Fox news, outside of Hannity's paranoia, they don't really bother me, I find CNN to be just as bias, I'm more bothered by the right wing nationalist and conspiracy stuff like Breitbert, Alex Jones, OAN, and even George Noory Coast to Coast that pushes speculative conspiracy theories. This is the audience Trump will be aiming for if he gets his streaming show off the ground.

For me the argument isn't left vs right, but moderates vs extremists. As a liberal moderate, I'm happy to debate a moderate conservative, but I refuse to engage with someone on the far left or right, I've found it's a waste of my time.
