Trump has trained his myrmidons well. He's got them chanting "Lock her up!" at his rally and this time it is Governor Whitmer. I keep hoping for a bolt from the blue to strike him at one of these events.

He also showed how he projects his thoughts and feelings with this statement during the rally

I'd argue George Floyd's death and Covid itself (terrible though they are) also played a part. As in they were an early surprise.

I've seen some wondering if Trump is jealous of Covid for hogging the world's attention, the bigger villain that could maybe stay haunting us a bit longer than him. Real life Evil vs. Evil.

Covid is a strange variable for Trump.

On one hand, without Covid, Trump was probably looking at re-election owing to the strong Pre-Pandemic Economy (which he inherited from Obama, but whatever). There was still stuff like his Impeachment and so on...and who knows maybe the NYT Tax Returns story breaks out anyway and that dominates the news. I still felt reasonably hopeful back in February (before the Lockdown and heightening of the pandemic) that Trump could lose to either Bernie or Biden...I mean for a while I actually had real hope that Bernie could win, he came closer than anyone of his politics ever did to becoming a candidate in general election. But obviously it would have been harder for the Dems to move against the Incumbent at a time when the economy was doing well.

On the other hand, Covid was Trump's big second chance. The one chance he had to earn redemption (for lack of a better word) for everything he did before then, for every evil thing he has done in his life. All he had to do was follow-the-science, do his job, and be a little smart and he could have turned it to benefit him. It could have worked well for him. And yet because Trump is Trump, the entire thing got undone.

Without COVID, it's likely the NYT Tax Returns stuff happens. The California Wildfires still happen. Assuredly, even without Covid, Trump would do some other stupid self-destructive arrogant thing.

Did you read my whole post? I explained why in that. It's a war, the cons know it, and are fielding everything to get the job done. Whether this was legit or not they are going to use this and everything else as a way to stop progress from being made in America.

Democrats don't bear any responsibility for the Republicans' lack of ethics.
