Jack Ciatterelli
Welcome to what is the 1141st original profile here at “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day”, where profiling Jack Ciatterelli, who served as a member of the New Jersey State Assembly from 2011-2018, and was a 2021 GOP candidate for Governor of New Jersey. He drew notoriety in the 1990s for trying to ban swearing in his local township. Which, yes, is still in New Jersey. Think about that. Someone trying to speak to the people of New Jersey about their values and trying to make them not say “f***” anymore. Doesn’t track based on about anyone we’ve ever known from there (including all the family).
His campaign strategy was in the center of the Venn diagram of “2021 GOP strategy”, continuing to pander for the support of Donald Trump by appearing at a Trump rally at Bedminster attended by the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers where he lied and claimed Trump won the 2020 election, pitching the idea of creating more loopholes for people to avoid getting the Covid-19 vaccine and reduce the number of deaths during the pandemic, and by fearmongering what is being taught in schools, saying of LGBTQ education in New Jersey:
The hilarious part of these three things would have been when he tried pretending he had NO IDEA that Donald Trump would turn his rally at Bedminster into a “Stop the Steal” rally. When, y’know, people were standing right behind him with signs that said it.
Jack Ciatterelli could not ride the early wave of GOP rage that Trump lost in 2020 to a win in 2021, but he got 48% of the vote against Gov. Phil Murphy, which is probably about 48% more than he deserves. Time will tell if he disappears from politics or not, given at the time of this writing, he’s only 60.
