No they don't. They are not courting the trans vote, they have no interest in that; they are openly attacking trans rights. They are openly dehumanising trans people. To say otherwise is either deeply, DEEPLY misinformed or actively misleading.

It's not a perfect one to one, of course, but one can see the very obvious parallels between the caricaturization of German Jews and Trans individuals. The british press wrote over 6000 articles about the 'transgender problem' in 2018 alone. The Sunday times alone wrote one article a day. Nearly all of these were negative.

A 2019 study by linguist Paul Baker, a professor at Lancaster University, found the British press wrote more than 6,000 articles about trans people between 2018-19, many of them written “in order to be critical of trans people” and painted “trans people as unreasonable and aggressive,” the report wrote.

The disproportionality of the trans-critical articles for a community estimated to amount to under 1% of the British population indicates an overreaction. Despite there never having been a “trans member of Parliament (MP),” and close to zero trans editors or staff writers at [British] newspapers an idea has stuck that there is an influential trans “lobby behind the scene … and that is very much characteristic of a moral panic,” author Faye said.
So I don't know, Mets. When you have every powerful lever in society punching down at a tiny, marginalized community and painting them as an enemy, a disruptor of public order, a desecrator of moral values, and a predator/groomer of children, then certainly all the while suggesting they cointrol the press and medical establishments and that there is a 'trans mafia' ready to silence you if you speak up against them, you may see some parallels to the early treatment of German Jews in the Weimar and early Nazi era. It's not a hard paralell to see, unless, of course, you just don't want to see it or agree with it but don't want to be seen as a 'bad guy' so you 'just ask questions'. That same process is hard at work here in the States, because the same people are funding it across the atlantic.

So, yes. There are equivalencies and obvious signs pointing to a largely right-wing movement to erase, restrict, and reduce transgender people's ability to participate in public life. Further, German Jews accounted for one percent of the German Population, and Trans people around the same, making both perfect targets for bigotry due to the way ignorant people can have a conversation about them without ever knowing them.

Mets will gladly give a party vote for a party that is backed by people who want to erase transgender individuals from every walk of public life the benefit of the doubt and assume best thoughts while assuming those who oppose the laws they enact to do so are engaged in 'malicious compliance', all the while accusing the rest of us of 'exaggerating'.

In the way they're viewed and treated by a growing number of people? The way they're being scapegoated and victimized and targeted? Absofuckinglutely I do. More accurately, though, I think they're the equivalent of trans people in Nazi governed Germany. Because, as you seem to keep conveniently ignoring, they came for the trans people early on. The first books they burned contained research into, and information about, trans people. But of course Obergruppenführer DeSantis isn't literally lighting a match and setting books on fire, so it's completely different and how dare anyone suggest otherwise.

Then they're wrong, and if they really wanted what was best for trans people, they would put their bigoted feelings aside and look at the actual evidence that overwhelmingly shows that gender affirming care not only benefits trans children, but can literally save their lives. Which you'd think, if they weren't also lying about being "pro-life", is something they might at least pretend to care about.

And I will remind you yet again that it's not just puberty blockers they're trying to stop, it's any and all forms of acceptance and support for trans kids, up to and including jail time for parents who simply accept and support their children for who they are.

That's a lie. Republicans know that what they're doing to trans people, to trans children, is going to drive many of them to attempt to end their own lives. And it's not just that they don't care. It's what the evil bastards want. And here you are, defending them.

Enjoy your tax cut when you get it. I hope it was worth it.

The majority of conservatives don't even think transgender exists as a thing. They will tell you that transgender adults are evil and want to turn our children into evil deviants too.

When someone shows you they refuse to debate in good faith time after time, expecting them to change is folly. Thus the only thing to do is point it out as posters here are doing.

Too bad nothing will come of it, because at this point I'm still not sure if it actually counts as Trolling according to the board's rules.

Most Republican officials believe they are doing the best for Trans People.

Of all the BS and dumb things on this thread that has to be number 1 on the list.

Completely ridiculous is what it is. Telling people they shouldn't exist or they are perverts, mentally deficient or trying to groom children is straight up attacks on their lives. And punitive vindictive laws being enacted, pushed is not "doing the best for them". Pure punishment, pure vindictive disgust over their humanity cannot be spun into "difference of opinions" or I just want what is best for you.

Meanwhile, this photo was taken outside the Florida courtroom where Trump is scheduled to be arraigned today. Okay, boys and girls, pop quiz: what's wrong with this picture?

A montana republican said she'd rather her daughter die by suicide than be trans. But they're just doing what's best! <3

See, the suicide just sends her daughter's immortal suicide to Hell. Transitioning would send her to Coachella. It's really about what is best for her.

OMG, the date. Well, I’m embarrassed for not catching that the first time.
