From whats being claimed they yelled cold gun or whatever the term was after handing Baldwin the gun that it was safe to use. Plus the shot itself was I believe one where the gun was being filmed at front. Like one of those down the barrel shots and this tragedy happened.

Guns with blanks for example shouldn't be pointed at anyone who is less than around 20-30 feet away to avoid another Jon-Erik Hexum thing. So anyone being injured that way these days is likely a result of procedures not being followed.

Which seems likely in this case...the 911 call makes reference to the prop master, who apparently was a recent replacement hire amidst the on set trouble about safety and working conditions...blaming him and calling him an idiot doing things he's not supposed to. And, sorry, but Baldwin had no business doing what he did. It displayed either ignorance or recklessness.
Jon Hexum shot himself by accident. He was simulating Russian Roulette and fired a blank into his temple.

If Baldwin was told the gun was safe and he was asked to point at the camera, then its not his fault at all. Pointing a gun at the camera isn't an unusual film making technique nor is it new.

Its been reported that someone yelled "cold gun" (which tells everyone on set the gun is safe for the shot), that means the guy that was supposed to make gun safe has a case to answer.

    Thats what its looking like.

Lots of westerns have direct shots like that.

Why how advanced special effects are these days, they should just get rid of real guns, use fake guns and just add the special effects when the gun is being fired.

Many movies these days do that. But it costs money, and perhaps they were filming this on a tight budget. Not that it is any excuse.

I remember some years back Kim Basinger telling a story about how she was hit by a blank and how much it hurt.

I was stunned that movies use real guns on set.

I would have thought that by now fake guns would be used instead. Because even the use of blanks is still extremely dangerous.

seems extremely odd. There has to be radical change to promote safety. for all the 3-D printing that can be done now, advances in molding, etc.; we'll have to see how this particular tragedy evolves.

I am very sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is very hard. Was he older or was it unexpected?

Here is a question Lets say the GOP takes control of the Senate back in the mid terms. and that they control the Senate in 2024 . When it comes time to certify the election if Trump loses if he runs again and the Dem wins what happens if the GOP Senate refuses to certify the election?

Both, kinda. He was old so we knew it could happen. But he seemed fine during the day, then suddenly got sick in the evening. We did what we could for him, but he then died.

I wasn't going to post anything about it, but my hands had a mind off their own.

    Thanks for the thoughts.

Lets just hope that someone else runs or maybe New York files charges on him to take him out of running.

I am so sorry to hear that news. I've had a few dogs, and it is still always heartbreaking.

Not at all. I don't post often, but I read almost everyday. I "listen" to you guys more often than I do just about anyone else IRL.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?
