They have been quietly getting rid of them. Barr just got rid of the current U.S Attorney General for Eastern District of New York, following their usual pattern of dirty deeds done in the late in the day on Fridays. Many are suspicious that the current replacements, previously the A/G of the Southern District on NY who was a bit harder to get rid of, are from offices that are known to exercise prosecutorial independence. Both of these offices would be handling any investigation into Trump's businesses and other affairs in NYC .
