What’s more: Gun enthusiasts are aware of this. So when progressives talk about the tragedy of gun deaths in America, it doesn’t matter if their actual proposal is a very mild tweak to background checks. When you define “the problem” as gun deaths, you are pushing toward a drastic solution that gun hobbyists don’t want, and they are highly motivated to vote against you.
You know how bizarre this reads?

Reverse it and what you have is, 'We will vote for you if you guarantee that there will be more Gun Deaths.'

So this commentary is saying that there are people out there who actually Want Gun Deaths.

Do you know how twisted that is?

You're asking them to care about other people. Remember, the root of conservatism in America is: They can tell you what to do. You can't tell them what to do. And the entire reason this works for them is so that they don't even have to entertain the notion that other people matter.

They know exactly what they are saying and they don't care.

Its one of the messaging ideas they have mastered really. Just say libs are coming for your guns. All your guns. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah, I was imagining a political cartoon where a Republican was speaking to supporters and saying something along the lines of, 'You like shooting things? Vote for me and you can shoot anything you want. You want to shoot animals, fine, Deer, Bear, your neighbor's pet dog, you name it. Do you want to shoot people? Go ahead! Your co-workers, your boss, that little old lady down the street. There are plenty of places to go hunting, Schools, Churches, Supermarkets, Playgrounds, you name it. Vote for me, Irate Q. Republican, and the world will be your shooting gallery.'

Christie? The Outlaw Jersey Whale has too many oversized skeletons in his closest (Bridgegate) to be a viable candidate.

Haley is wasting her time. No way in hell the misogynistic GQP will get behind a female candidate.

Cruz can boast all he wants about being the front runner, but it’s all in his imagination.
All these names... yep. Cotton and DeSantis are the only ones that could usurp the cultlike obsession with Trump right now. The cruelty conservatives think is strength is strong enough from them. Nobody thinks Ted Cruz is a tough guy, hes' going nowhere.

Your one hope is Larry Hogan runs, but given he took measures against Covid-19, he will never win the nomination.

My concern is that, with the J6 Committee there is a lot of (well deserved) focus on Trump, but that I didn't think anyone was looking at the threat of other MAGA Republicans who are seeing themselves as doing what Trump did, only better. Thinking which of the group might pose the most danger to the country.

To me the perfect out come is Trumps runs for the GOP Nod. he gets beat by Desantis or some other QOP. Well we know how weel Trumpo handles loss. So he starts ranting and raving to his base about fraud and fake votes but this time against Desantis like he kind of Did Vs Cruz when he lost the Iowa primary.

Then he tells his base the GOP have turned on him and cheated him and they are not worth the votes. And enough of Trumps cult listen that they stay home and dont vote for Destantis or who ever and that the Dems Keep the White House is 2024. Trump starts a GOP civil war in 2024.

    Speaking of which...

DeSantis is offering GOP voters Trump lite. A primary poll suggests it's working.

A new University of New Hampshire Granite State poll shows Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis neck-and-neck with former President Donald Trump among likely Republican presidential primary voters in New Hampshire, with DeSantis receiving the support of 39% of respondents and Trump 37%. The 2% gap falls within the poll's margin of error, which means they’re effectively tied. It’s a massive leap for DeSantis, who was trailing Trump 18% to 43% in the same poll in October.
Of course, one poll so far out from any 2024 Republican presidential primary is not an actual preview of how the critical New Hampshire primary is actually likely to play out. But DeSantis’ surge does provide some insights into the direction of the party, and the waning likelihood that the GOP primary involves a major challenge to Trumpism.

If you look under the hood with this poll, there are some revealing findings about the wind behind DeSantis’ sails. When broken down by media consumption, Fox News viewers and conservative radio listeners favored DeSantis over Trump by a bigger margin than overall, roughly 15 percentage points.

The issue there is that many gun owners think that even the slightest new restriction on guns is part of the march towards "take all guns, from everyone, period" because that's what groups like the NRA have been telling them for decades.

Twitter seems to think this is big news

Supermarket Worker Slaps Giuliani, Says ‘Hey, What’s Up, Scumbag?’: Report

Rudy Giuliani reportedly got a bit more than he bargained for Sunday when campaigning for his son at a Staten Island ShopRite. Sources told the New York Post that 78-year-old former New York City mayor and Trump lawyer was stumping at the store for his son, who is vying for the Republican nomination in New York’s gubernatorial race, when he was slapped roughly by a ShopRite employee.
Bound to happen someday. It shouldn't have, but Rudy wasn't hurt except maybe his ego.

They're not willing to do what it would take to significantly lower gun deaths.

A criticism would also be that Democrats are not open about supporting the policies that would significantly lower gun deaths. They're not calling for an Australia style gun confiscation. Obama briefly hinted that this was what he wanted, and there was significant pushback.

We can only hope someone meets Donald Trump and goes with a "Whats up f-ck face ?" deal. Or Clarence Thomas as a judge.

So when it comes to gun control, the Left is reduced to arguing for something that might become law, but really wouldn't accomplish anything, or argue for something that would accomplish something significant, but will never get enough votes in Congress to be passed. We're all doomed.

Video of the “assault” on Rudy at ShopRite, where Rudy had the person arrested, and said if he wasn’t in better shape he would’ve fallen, cracked his skull, and died.

Yeah, right. Definitely an eyeroll moment. See for yourself.
