I'm genuinely curious about this statement. It sounds like a reference that I've been using lately to 1984 where the use of language is changed and words are erased in order to make dissent impossible, or at least quite difficult. In your example above, what words/language in particular are you suggesting have been removed by the current administration?

If Trump loses the election, I'd imagine QAnon support will be the equivalent to believing the world will end in 2012, or that George W Bush is going to be a Hitlerian fascist. Some diehards will stick around, but most will be disappointed.

I don't care what your personal politics are, this administration is just incompetent. All of them have no business being in the offices they're in.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is prepping a run for President in 2024, no matter what happens.

Mr. Hogan, who flirted publicly last year with a primary challenge against Mr. Trump, instead took the helm of the National Governors Association, where in recent months he has been at the forefront of an often fraught relationship between the Trump administration and governors around the country struggling to confront the pandemic. Mr. Hogan, 64, recounts the experience at length in his book, and said that it had reinforced his interest in seeking the presidency.

“After this November election is over, regardless of who wins, there are a large majority of Americans who are completely convinced our political system is fundamentally broken, and they’re going to be looking for something different,” Mr. Hogan said in an interview about the memoir, titled “Still Standing: Surviving Cancer, Riots, a Global Pandemic and the Toxic Politics that Divide America,” which is to be released on July 28.

“We have an election coming up — we’ll see what happens there — but I’ve been leading the nation’s governors through one of the biggest crises in our lifetime,” he added.

In the book, Mr. Hogan said he would describe his experience with cancer, confronting unrest in Baltimore after the death of Freddie Gray in police custody in 2015 and the virus that has claimed nearly 130,000 American lives. It includes five chapters on the response to the pandemic in Maryland and across the nation.

Mr. Hogan said Mr. Trump’s messaging about the virus “has been really bad.”

“It’s mixed messages — bouncing from one message to the other,” Mr. Hogan said. “His entire administration is telling everyone to take it seriously while he tells everybody to not take it seriously.”

Kyle Kondik, of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, said that he expected a good number of Republican candidates to enter the 2024 race for president without a dominant front-runner, and that Mr. Hogan’s record of criticizing Mr. Trump could make for a challenging path in a crowded primary race.

“I don’t think that Republican primary voters have much patience for Republicans who seem to be helping Democrats attack Republicans,” Mr. Kondik said, citing the failed presidential campaigns of former Gov. John Kasich of Ohio and Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. of Utah.

For years, Mr. Hogan has been among the most popular governors in the country. In one recent poll, 78 percent of Maryland respondents approved of his job performance.

Say a problem is striking a particular group of people more than some others. If you can not talk about the class affected, you can not recommend a course of action that might alleviate the problem, because you can not describe the problem accurately. I wouild not say it's a shift. Adhering to this has been the GOPs method of dealing with 'problems' for years, either through deliberately obscuring the problem, refusing to acknowledge that it is a problem, or denying the ability to study a problem to prevent the development of understanding who and what it affects.

You left out the section of my post in which I explained how the QAnon theory does have a concrete deadline.

To be bothered by a comment that QAnon might be going away would require an absolute certainty that it will be as significant a problem following the next election. That seems extreme.

Honestly, it does seem to me that the left is more about changing the language.

Hell, look at the multiple definitions of racism, a word that can be used by progressive white people talking about their own shortcomings, which is a change from earlier meanings.

In another discussion, Warren Ellis has been accused of grooming, because of how he interacted with women who were all consenting adults. Initially, the phrase applied to child grooming, a practice where someone forms an emotional connection with a minor as a way to lower inhibitions for illegal activities. It has spread a little bit to apply to someone forming an emotional connection with a minor in order to establish a sexual relationship when the minor is a legal adult, which is messed up but not what Ellis did. With Ellis, the phrase was used to apply to relationships between consenting adults, with someone being nice to women in their twenties to hit on them a week or an year later. A downside is that this diminishes its value as a term to refer to the exploitation of children. It seems to be an example of category creep, where the definition of something extreme is extended so far that it no longer means the same thing.

There are probably some rightward examples, although with white liberals becoming more progressive, changes in standards seem to be happening more on the left.

We know Trump has a dictator complex. He envies people like Kim Jong-un and Putin. Everything Trump does, he does from the perspective of 'Will this make me happy?'. He wants crowds of people bowing down to him, military parades just for him, he wants everything to be 'perfect', from his perspective of what perfection is.

He wants the economy to be 'perfect', so he'll march people back to work even if it kills them.

He wants his core supporters to be happy, even if it means putting children in cages. Even if it means turning the streets into hunting grounds where anyone who doesn't support him, especially non-whites, can be targeted and killed.

He wants to be free to do whatever he wants, which means scrapping laws and the constitution. He wants his supporters to be free to do whatever they want, whenever they want. Trump hates the courts, he'd rather not have to go around worried that his tax returns would be made public or that his money laundering and tax evasion and other crimes be made public.

Speaking of which, Trump hates the News Media, unless they are praising him 24-7. If he could, he throw any reporter, journalist, or public figure that criticizes him in jail. Even a whiff of bad news, like the Fox News polls, would be grounds for immediate incarceration in Trump's 'perfect' world.

He'd wipe out the majority of the population of America, just so that he could create his own version of a Trump-centered, all white utopia.

What he wants, what he thinks is perfection, is to the rest of us a nightmarish dystopia.
