And frankly, I feel like we are headed in that direction anyway despite the fact that our electoral system makes it hard for third parties, because this idea of having a big tent Democratic party that is meant to include everyone who's not a rabid white nationalist hasn't actually worked in terms of delivering policies that benefit any of its constituent blocs. Black people right now are forced to vote for Democrats because the Republicans are openly hostile towards them, but their interests don't really align with those of suburban moderates or progressives, and being a captive audience means that the party will always push their issues to the backburner to try and appeal more to white swing voters, who tend to be hostile to anything that hints at radical change.
A multi-party system would make some things better, for sure. But we will never get that, as long as alternate parties are laser focused on national wins over local wins. Without the groundwork laid at a local level, no third party will EVER get enough votes to unseat the Big Two. You need to show cities and states what your party can do for them BEFORE asking the public to vote for you on a national scale.

If third parties refuse to do the grunt work and build their coalitions like everyone else, then they deserve to keep failing.

Well the way that third parties usually work in most countries, they try and establish a local power base first and then can rely on the loyalty of those voters to get them a seat at the table in national elections, and then try to govern as part of a coalition. This is basically what Bernie Sanders has always done, his recent forays into the presidential race notwithstanding. Third parties as they currently exist in America though are pretty much entirely a grift, they only tend to appeal to those people who want to think of themselves as smart for not voting for one of the two main parties, but clearly aren't smart enough to realize the strategic implications of voting for a candidate that has no chance of winning. Historically, third parties that are successful are formed by groups splintering off from one of the main parties, like Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose party, they don't really just emerge out of grassroots action. So if we are going to transition to a multi-party system most likely this will involve the two main parties breaking up and the various blocs that emerge re-aligning in some way, rather than some independent anti-establishment movement coming up from out of nowhere to seize power, the Jesse Venturas of the world are mostly just a sideshow.

Well some are by going after lower level seats. Some target the mayor's office or city council.

We have had here in Dallas elections where Demo or Republican does not run and they end up fighting a third party. The downside for the few that try here in Dallas is they run into the candidate (mainly DEMOCRAT) who can get declared the winner with only 1% of the votes in.

Kayne still got 60K votes. What if he ran for a local office in his city? Or better yet run for the school board of the school district in his city? Those are not run by political parties.

At most he would have to attend 2 meetings a month and vote on a budget and contracts.

With Trump's latest lawsuit defeat , Rudy held a press conference trying to paint it as a win (they withdrew it ...somehow he believes he won ..WTF) . Anyhow the Trump lawsuits are now 1-29. And the 1 win was something silly.

Well, according to the Wall Street Journal, Trump's trying to whip a legal team that knows its losing to full speed, and is even threatening governors over it. I don't doubt that he's fleecing people, but he appears serious about the effort. I can't decide if this is fear of what will become of him once he's out, or if he's simply delusional.

If a baseball player had one hit in 29 at bats, he’d be shown to the bench. One thing’s for certain, Trump isn’t going to quit, no matter how times his legal team gets it’s collective asses handed to him. I suspect Trump’s endgame is to find a way to get a hearing before SCOTUS on the hope they would overturn the results and name him the winner.

According to one article he's running out of time on that. The Supreme Court is going on holiday break in a couple days. Its looking more like they don't want no part of this.

I doubt if they really care...none of them are going to ruin their career to give an absurd ruling to overturn a clear democratic result.

They may well be biased, but that isnít the same as being insane.

Not if he plays for the Reds.

my aunt who the other days said she was starting to think there was no voter fraud because there was no proof. But today after listening to Rudy she is back to her hellfire and brimstone on how the election was stolen. They had been planning this for years. No way Biden could win fair against the greatest yet for some reason most slander president in the history of America. Sigh it was a nice couple of days.

Anyone watch Rudy 'truth isn't truth' Guliani's briefing today? Around 40:00 they start naming who was behind the election fraud. Some listed were the GOP's boogeyman George Soros, the Clinton Foundation, ANTIFA, and 'commies' Hugo Chavez who died several years ago and Maduro. Rudy was sweating so much his hair dye started running down his cheeks.

Just thinking. Trump pushed to get a 3rd pick on the SCOTUS in order to have the Supreme Court rule in his favor regarding the election.

Trump can't even get a legal challenge or lawsuit past the State Courts.
