Another failure by the Capital Police. In the first place, The Capitol has been closed to the public since the pandemic. That should have given them time to reassess their security. I've never been on a tour of the building in the pre-pandemic but I always imagined that like with the White House, the public is barred from access to private areas. One would think that would be the case here and that the wing or section that has the private offices would be barred from the public with some kind of passkey lock system or barrier gates that could be drawn.
Biden's front porch campaign has kept security risks at a low. The US Secret Service isn't Capitol Police.
Security has increased steadily and increasingly for Biden and I am sure it will be up.
The big issue is the Coronavirus, obviously those terrorists who marched on Capitol included people who carried the virus and that means that everyone must assume that Capitol Dome has become a cluster. A huge crowd of non-mask wearing people storming an indoor space and then spreading around, defacing, and so on...yeah.
So the entire place needs to be disinfected, as well as the WH Compound. And considering that you had a Joint Session right after that in the same chambers where these mask dodgers ran amok, I think many House Reps and Senators, as well as aides and staffers might come down with the bug in the weeks to come. Of course I sympathize with holding the session right afterwards and confirming the votes, it's one of those cases where you have to walk into a trap.
For a touch of history, Biden might considering shifting his inauguration to Federal Hall, New York City where Washington was sworn in at a time when the city and the capital was still in construction.
Back on Nov. 8th, 2020 I ran my first profile of Oregon state legislator Mike Nearman. Noted his ties to militia groups and hate groups.
Two months to the day, there's a report that he was the one who opened a security door for right-wing extremists to invade the Oregon state legislature on December 21st, a preview of the same thing that happened in DC on 1/6.

Make of this what you will.

Also read an article that former CSGOPOTD Rick Saccone, the man who campaigned with Donald Trump but lost to Conor Lamb was protographed as present at the capitol insurrection, and has resigned his teaching job at St. Vincent's University as part of the fallout.
Also Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano, recently elected in a special election who I haven't profiled yet, but was in the queue.
I know some of you were kind enough to worry about the incoming workload I've got as a result of 1/6, and... yeah. But honestly, it seems like so far I'm having to update some folks I've already written about and flagged as problematic within the GOP more than finding new nutjobs, luckily. But there are people like Derrick Evans I'm gonna have to get around to.
And by the by, the next time someone pulls "both sides"? One side attempted a bloody coup to subvert our democracy. Closest Democratic equivalent to anything like this was John Lewis leading a sit-in on the floor of the House after a mass shooting a couple years ago. One's a violent insurrection in the name of a fascist, the other is a Civil Rights icon peacefully protesting to get gun control so children aren't being mass murdered by lunatics.
Thought I'd lay that out in case anyone still feeling "both sides" couldn't spot the difference.

I dont see how people can ignore the both sides.Originally Posted by worstblogever;5317596 [B
I mean Biden called a guy a chump at a rally, and he challenged a man to a push up contest at another. And Shummer did not stand up and clap at Trumps last state of the union.
Edit - Lets not forget that guy who stole sneakers out of a target during a BLM protest.
These three things are just as bad as what happened at the capital.
I would love to see our friendly member who defends the Republicans in every post say something about this. but oddly I have not seen him post in the past three days.

This Post Contains No Artificial Intelligence. It Contains No Human Intelligence Either.
Pro-bono gig, regrettably.
I'm also collecting a list of people like Matt Gaetz who are trying to claim "Antifa did it!" So far I have Rep. Mo Brooks, Texas AG Ken Paxton... I've already profiled all three for other things, but the looniest of the loons I've focused on are coming back to roost in this event. The number of republican state lawmakers involved in actual participation of these events is shocking. In addition to the incitement by Hawley and Cruz.
Which, someone defending all the GOP insanity I document tried convincing me I was just "naming all the members of Congress".
Current events would indicate otherwise. It seems like I was sizing up who was cheerleading or even carrying out a future insurrection.

One of these terrorists just makes me go, "the b-lls on her". I mean even cartoon supervillains, heck parodies of cartoon supervillains in The Venture Bros. aren't this brazen (boldness added by me):

That's it. Satire is dead. Parody is dead. That postmodernist stuff by Baudrillard about the simulacra and "the collapse of the real"...all that stuff that sounded like gobbledegook and claptrap...they were right all along.A real estate broker from Frisco, Texas, flew on a private jet to Washington, DC, along with friends to “storm the Capitol” on Wednesday.
Jenna Ryan, who is also a radio host, flew from US Trinity Aviation in Denton, Texas, all they way to the nation’s Capitol — where she had “one of the best days of my life.”
“Hopping on a plane heading to DC #MarchToSaveAmerica #stopthesteal,” she wrote in the caption of a photo on the tarmac.
The Trump supporter was also tagged in multiple photos on Facebook, where she is seen holding her luggage with a big grin on her face.
Ryan tweeted a photo with her pals aboard the jet.
“We’re gonna go down and storm the Capitol. They’re down there right now and that’s why we came,” the Texan said in a video clip.
The morning of the riots, Ryan livestreamed the walk to Capitol Hill, saying, “All these working class people taking the week off … We flew here for freedom. They want to steal the election, they want to steal everything.”
She continued to ramble, “We the people are pissed off … We flew by a private jet, God wanted us here today. Trump is my president.”
...
“This is a prelude going to war,” exclaimed Ryan.
As widespread damage and carnage ensued, Ryan posed in front of a broken window at the Capitol, smiling, with the caption: “Window at The capital. And if the news doesn’t stop lying about us we’re going to come after their studios next.”
Then they accomplished their mission.
“We just stormed the capital. It was one of the best days of my life,” she tweeted at the end of one of the darkest days in American history that left one woman fatally shot and four more dead.
Metropolitan Police did not immediately respond to a request about whether Ryan was a person of interest in the riot on Capitol Hill.
Ryan did not respond to The Post for a comment.
I will say that with Josh Hawley announcing the First Amendment guarantees you a book deal with a Big 5 publisher, and a radio host thinking the working class will revolt on private jets...the Republicans seem to be more socialist than the socialists at this point, in terms of their fantasies.
Meanwhile, my work laptop still times out to a password-protected screensaver every five minutes of no activity.
The password on that laptop is probably 1-2-3-4-5.
I don't think the capital building was designed with those kind of security features in mind. And the ones they did have proved to be inadequate.
There is already a lot of circumstantial evidence that the Capital Police were either deliberately hamstrung by the government, or were in on it to some degree. Offers of additional help days before the riot were turned down. Requests for National Guard troops DURING the riot were denied. Numerous videos of cops opening barricades, taking selfies with rioters, allowing them to leave and even one cop helping a woman down the stairs like she was their GRANDMA. The fact that over the past few weeks, Trump has fired numerous people in the DOD and replaced them with Trump loyalists who are barely, if even, qualified for the jobs they were given. And the fact that this whole thing has been hyped up for WEEKS.
