GOP Congressional candidate Thomas Gilmer, a Qanon supporter who was running for Connecticut's 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, has been arrested for domestic assault. There's video of him punching and choking his ex-girlfriend.

Now, here's the even more disgusting part... the Connecticut GOP was sharing that video among themselves to try to rally support around a different candidate in the primary... But no one bothered to notify the police. They wanted to keep the crime under wraps to mitigate the damage it might have to the party as a whole.

    Just... very on brand, Republicans.

He dropped out, but might still win the primary.

Votes are still being counted after Tuesday’s primary, but the latest unofficial tally from the state shows Gilmer, the GOP endorsed candidate in Connecticut’s 2nd District race, and his primary opponent Justin Anderson are neck and neck. As of 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, with about 80 percent of precincts reporting, Anderson led by five votes.

The state GOP announced on Twitter Tuesday that Gilmer had ended his campaign. It’s still unclear what would happen if Gilmer, 29, were to win the primary election.

Mitt Romney slams politicians attacking mail-in voting

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Sen. Mitt Romney said Friday that politicians attacking the vote by mail system are threatening global democracy but stopped short of criticizing President Donald Trump, who has been openly against an expected surge of mail-in ballots.

The United States must stand as an example to more fragile democratic nations to show that elections can be held in a free and fair manner, Romney said. He urged the federal government to make every effort to ensure that people are able to vote in the general election this November.

“That’s more important even than the outcome of the vote,” he said at a virtual event hosted by the conservative Utah-based Sutherland Institute. “We have got to preserve the principle of democracy or the trend we’re on is going to continue to get worse.”

He's the one lone voice of sanity on the GOP side of the aisles even if he doesn't speak out enough. It's more than anyone else in the party does.

Going through Twitter, and I get the feeling that the 'Take down the USPS' strategy isn't going as well for Trump as he thought it would. Nothing definite yet, but keep your eyes open.

Everyone's seen delivery delays. I can't see how he thinks he can keep it up, this far in advance

If he had been smart about it, he'd have waited until October to destroy the USPS. Thank goodness Trump is a dumb as a brick.

And of course Matt Gaetz has endorsed a conspiracy theorist.

Matt Gaetz just endorsed Republican congressional candidate Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Greene is a devout supporter of the QAnon conspiracy theory and recently claimed there's 'no evidence' a plane crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11.

Gaetz is an absolute disgrace. He needs to go.

Agreed! Bricks serve a useful purpose and are far smarter than Trump could ever be. More reliable too

Don’t know why Mittens wouldn’t criticize Trump. I mean, he’s already on the outside of the GOP and looking in, what does he have to lose?

People are angry because they’re not getting their meds, bills, checks, bills, packages, you name it, and they’re focusing their ire on Trump. Either he didn’t realize screwing with the USPS affected more than mail in voting, or thought he could get away with his scheme.

Seems like Trump is only getting more and more people united against him over the past few months.
