Think he/she was speaking more symbolically.

Sure, we've been doing that for days. The question was about it actually being over, which it is not.

So if someone asks if it's finally over, and someone replies 'yes', that's confusing.

IT'S OVER: Biden defeats Trump as US voters take the rare step to remove an incumbent president.

BI has given all the remaining races to Trump for a 273 Biden victory.

Decision Desk HQ has Biden at 273 based on the Pennsylvania projection.

So in all seriousness is no one else worried about the possibility of a civil war?

Personally I would love to see this happen over trump leaving voluntarily.

The campaign and ACT BLUE is laser focused on getting the money in for those Senate races. I was hoping the emails would cease after we settled the election. But, I see the validity in keeping up the donation spam until those senate races are determined in Jan.

    Ill donate again.

So lessons to be drawn so far.

-- Mail-In Ballots and Early Voting are the wave of the future. It allows both parties, but especially Dems, to maximize their voter base. Post-Pandemic, this is one Lockdown era habit that needs to be maintained and consolidated. Going back to in-person voting on ED, i.e. status quo 2016 is not an option.
-- At the same time people like to know results on ED or as early as possible. So states with Dem governors and Dem State Govs need to allow counting of mail and early voting before ED. This year early counting wasn't done universally even in blue states.

The real thing of course is to make Election Day a holiday so that everyone can vote but that I think needs changes in constitution, so these two have to do for now.

The Pandemic and lockdown as Joker said increased voter turnout for both parties. But Dems have a larger voter base used to and trained in casting mail-in ballots. So they can retain this advantage going forward (should they choose to), whereas GOP still largely went for in-person voting and that turned out their base because of Lockdown and work-for home stuff but that advantage won't last in a Post-Pandemic election.

Obviously the GOP is going to make mail-in ballots harder than ever. And of course the USPS is going to be a more politicized organization going forward and funding the USPS and so on will be a big issue. The GOP will obviously aim to privatize and gut it.

At the end of the day the core of Trump's cult is cowardice. They don't have the wherewithal for war.

If he truly loves America, he will leave peacefully and accept the lost.

Nah. The military will follow whoever the POTUS is. The racist militias don't have the weapons to take on the US.

A CIVIL WAR will only happen if elected officials across the party make plans to secede and create militas and so on. So far that's not going to happen. Mitch McConnell isn't going to leave Washington for *Checks notes* a Kentucky State Militia government or something equivalent to that.

Before we get all cocky, it should be noted a bunch of untrained farmers handed the French their asses in 1862.

That being said, a bunch a rail thin 20 somethings and middle-aged obese white men will probably get obliterated by an M1 Abrams before they even move.

Civil War? No. Public Unrest? Absolutely.
