One of the reason the Hard Core Bible thumpers fell in goose step with Trump Beside the fact he is a god fearing man (Remember the photo op with an upside down bible that wasnt his at a church he didnt go to?) is because he wanted to over turn Roe V Wade.

A little thing like supporting Domestic terrorism is okay because he took away womans rights to choose.

It will be too good to pass up for them, they get to dehumanize and inflict pain on a minority they hate WHILE further entwining Christianity with the law.

They WILL be watching for the blowback before they come for othe rights. The conservative majority of the supreme court is just another arm of the GOP politica product, after all. They're fairly sure they've insulated themselves from the worst of it in the House with gerrymandering but the Senate is in play, and it's not impossible for the Dems to hold the house if this doesn't play out like the GOP thinks it will.

I wish I could believe that the Republicans will pay for this. But I don't think very highly of the American electorate. People will see high gas prices and blame Biden. They'll vote for Republicans. They'll vote for the people who make this a worse country to live in.

Chuck Todd on NBC this morning pissed me the Hell Off.

"Trump is not spiking the ball right now. He is not praising how he did this and made this happen. To me that means he is not comfortable with this outcome. He did not want this."

    Get Fucked Chuck Todd!

This Supreme Court decision teaches us two things. First, that we should take NOTHING for granted. Any right that we've won should not be assumed to be forever. And second, that playing the long game works. They just kept chipping away and chipping away and eventually, they got what they wanted. We have to work the same way.

I dont know about the rest of you but I have lost count of how many times the last several years I have woken up and seen something on the news and said

"Well that sucks but its over now."

"That is bad but it wont get worse right?"

"That is god awful but it cant go further."

Lesson of the last years. I am a dumb son of a bitch for thinking these things.

Just noticed that Missouri became the first state to fully criminalize abortion after Roe came down. We're leading the way in being an unlivable garbage place to exist.
Truly, we have no rights but what Republicans allow. None at all.

All the voting rights cases should have taught people that. If they won't protect the right to vote, which is literally in the Constitution, they're sure as hell not going to protect the rights of anyone who isn't white, Christian, male, powerful, and privileged.

And despite it all, Republicans will win in November nationally and at the state level, because Americans don't actually care. They won't vote or will vote Republican because of global inflation. Republicans will feel extremely validated and empowered, arguing they're right and the "silent majority" agrees with them. In states where there is still a modicum of freedom, they'll just keep biding their time until they get power or use the federal government to override the states with the blessing of the courts who only believe in states' rights when the state agrees with them.

I'd like to see that but I sincerely have my doubts. There are too many status-quo loving moneyed centrists guiding the Democratic platform. Anyone with any stones in the party is out bid by those assholes and labelled "socialist" by the right. Attacked on both fronts. So as much as I want this to not be the case, as much as I appreciate the hope in your statement here, I'm just too weathered by my experience in this country to believe any of that will change.

And they will. They're villains, clearly.

And that right there is the problem. Most Americans are good people. Most Americans want gun control. Most Americans don't want Roe V. Wade overturned. But this isn't a democracy. I think it strives to be, sure. But we clearly aren't there yet.

Whatever the right decides to do there will be just enough pants-shittingly stupid morons drinking the right wing kool-aid that it'll come to pass.

I used to feel that way. In 2017. A full term later it was the wrong energy.
