AOC decries ‘bigotry and callousness’ at pro-Palestinian rally in New York
It can be done politely and with respect to victims.Criticising a pro-Palestinian rally held in Times Square in New York City in the aftermath of Hamas attacks on Israel which left hundreds dead, the progressive congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said: “It should not be hard to shut down hatred and antisemitism where we see it.”
The attacks, including the killing of at least 260 concertgoers and the taking of hostages, sparked a new war between Israel and Hamas. In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes killed hundreds. By Tuesday, the Israeli death toll approached 1,000.
The Sunday rally in New York, endorsed by members of the Democratic Socialists of America and promoted by the group’s New York chapter, attracted a crowd of more than 1,000. Some chanted “resistance is justified when people are occupied”.
Amid attacks from Republicans, Ocasio-Cortez, a New York representative popularly known as AOC, was among Democrats to condemn the rally.
Speaking to Politico, she said shutting down hatred and antisemitism was “a core tenet of solidarity”.
“The bigotry and callousness expressed in Times Square on Sunday were unacceptable and harmful in this devastating moment,” she said.
“It also did not speak for the thousands of New Yorkers who are capable of rejecting Hamas’s horrifying attacks against innocent civilians as well as the grave injustices and violence Palestinians face under occupation.”
Earlier, Ocasio-Cortez was among leading congressional progressives to call for a ceasefire. In a statement, she said: “I condemn Hamas’s attack in the strongest possible terms.
“No child and family should ever endure this kind of violence and fear, and this violence will not solve the ongoing oppression and occupation in the region. An immediate ceasefire and de-escalation is urgently needed to save lives.”

I don’t think anyone here is implying Israel deserves to have atrocities committed on its citizens.
Enough books and articles have been written about the situation there to fill a library. I don’t think it’s gross to look at that entire affair and be disgusted with the whole mess. For my own part I simply feel sorry for the regular families who have no choice but to endure. That’s the only side I’ll take.

This is pretty much the reasonable take on all of this.
Most people (with a few exceptions who are repeating decades old rhetoric) know how messy and complicated the situation is in the Middle-East. Anyone can do their research to have at least a reasonable understanding of the situation.
The victims here are the innocent people of Gaza AND Israel. They don't deserve what's been happening to them.

Too busy to respond to gobs of posts, but this sums up my feelings as well.
A Development in regards to Israel's call to flee to Egypt, the Rafah Crossing is closed so they have nowhere to go and it's reported that it's Israel's attacks that closed the crossing.
Oh God, you're not going there, are you? Have you done urban warfare? It is supposedly the hardest, deadliest type. I'm not going to even attempt to lecture them on any of that; they're the experts. And yes, it's almost impossible to avoid civilian casualties in that sort of warfare.
EU warns Elon Musk over ‘disinformation’ about Hamas attack on X
Full letter in the link. The EU has issued a warning to Elon Musk over the alleged disinformation about the Hamas attack on Israel, including fake news and “repurposed old images”, on X, which was formerly known as Twitter.
The letter comes less than two months after sweeping new laws regulating content on social media seen in the EU came into force under the Digital Services Act. If Musk, the owner of X, does not comply, he can face a fine of 6% of his revenues from X or a total blackout in the EU.
Are we witnessing the end of Xitter? I still see politicians posting official info there, but otherwise it's reportedly more and more of a dump.

I'm pretty sure Egypt had something to do with that; they hate Hamas, which is related to the Muslim Brotherhood, the arch enemy of the current military dictatorship. Nor do they want a flood of refugees. None of which is Israel's problem. Perhaps Hamas should have considered that before invading a country and murdering thousands of civilians.
