The news Melania wants him to concede this is not shocking. Its been rumored that she wants to move on with her life and file for divorce once they are out of the White House.

This doesn't seem like a great analogy.

The argument against AOC is that she hurts the Democratic brand, especially in swing districts, with controversial policy proposals. It's not about her being a woman of color; it's about her being a high profile member of the party who gets a lot of media attention. Republican voters could feel the same way about Steve King, Michelle Bachmann, or Majorie Taylor Greene, although Marjorie Taylor Greene is less likely to be offered the cover of Vanity Fair.

Do not compare the Republican party and nutjobs like Greene to the Democrats.

    It doesn't meet the criteria.

Surprising nobody, Montana went hard Republican in state and national races this time. It's pretty hard to vote against far-right gobshites when the Democratic party here can't even field decent candidates. Steve Bullock launched his Senate bid almost immediately after getting laughed out of contention for President. Our sole Democratic Senator, Jon Tester, recently told a hotel bar full of people that Bullock "is a fucking idiot." Tester himself, in an effort to not make any waves or otherwise do anything that could prompt criticism from the Righty mob refused to support his fellow Democrats in the 2020 election cycle.

And Kathleen Williams was shot down in her bid for our sole U.S. House seat, likely because most of her televised ads were uncomfortably desperate attempts to portray herself as a stereotypical Montanan, featuring lots of hunting, fishing, beer-drinking and the wearing of denim.

Don't get me wrong; I am ecstatic about Biden's victory over that mango-colored **** hue, but the fate of Democrats in my home state was high comedy tinged with depression.

Yes AOC really tanked these guys from a surefire sweep of Montana - State and National -- seats, lol.

    Haha, indeed!

To follow up on Williams, one of my closest friends worked finance on her campaign and asked me what I thought of several of her ads when they were first set to go out. Truthfully but also a little unhelpfully, I replied, "I can't hear her over all that pandering."

Most rural Montanans wouldn't know sophistication if it kicked down their barn doors (but then again, I imagine most diehard Trumpists are the same way). My state will continue on as a part of Jesusland, but I'm glad enough to the rest of the country is living in reality.

It does, though. They're the opposite sides of a coin.

I have seen the panel. But it's not engrained in me, because, I suppose, I don't have context for it.

Abrams is the consensual figure there for the Dems, and the GOP can't attack her because she has righteous anger and justice on her side.

IN any case, I don't see how if the GOP turned out for Trump despite his open fascism and neo-confederacy, why comments about socialism and so on are disqualifying. Here's the thing tags about socialism and so on...they can be weathered through, you can get from that if you keep cool and power through.

On this we agree. At the same time, I don't think dislodging McConnell and taking over Kentucky is forever beyond Democrat dreams. After all, McConnell lost Arizona and he's one major Midterm defeat away from losing his Senate Majority, then he'll have to go back to Kentucky as just himself without offering the big advantages he was able to bring to them as Sen. Maj. Leader.
Will McConnell even run again? He's 78, and a lot of Senators opt to retire in their 80s.

The next elections do look okay for him.
In 2022, Republicans are defending seats in states Trump won in 2016, and the midterm electorate tends to be more conservative and against the party in the White House.
The 2024 Senate elections seem to have 23 Democrats defending their seats, with potential pick up opportunities in Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Republicans are only defending ten seats so even if there were a wave election, it might not be enough to change the composition.

Anything can happen, but the odds are pretty good he keeps being the majority leader for the remainder of his term.

I do wonder if the Democrats underperformed in congressional races wasn't about messaging and advertising, but about results.

It seemed weird for Democrats to refuse to pass another COVID relief bill. I'm unaware of there being any poison pills in the version suggested by Republican Senators that would make it impossible for Democrats to support; the argument seemed to be that the Senate bill didn't do enough, but something is still better than nothing. They could have added more stuff to later relief bills.
    Sincerely,

Wyoming is in a similar position, but we do have 2 blue counties at least. Shame we couldn't get rid of "do nothing" (not an exaggeration) Lummis to see what Merav Ben-David can do.

Ah. My wife got my into the site Fark (basically an rss feed with snarky headlines) and they seem to have a requirement to post that panel at least once in any thread discussing white supremacy or Confederate monuments.

Pelosi place a political bet based on the Congressional gain that she seemed to believe were going to happen.

    About that simple.

Joe Biden is already taking over as President while the current one fucks around on a golf course mad. The incoming one has already announced plans tomorrow for a Covid Taskforce he will unveil tomorrow...

The picture: The task force will be led by three co-chairs: former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner David Kessler and Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith from Yale University.

there used to be two people I felt sorry for. Melania Trump and Baron. they did not deserve to be dragged into the Trump mess. I would think Melania would have grown a pair. it turns out she wants to go down with the Trump sinking ship. Her Twitter about the election is classless.
