best of success to senator Padilla. for future consideration, I hope that the DNC has a plan of succession for Democratic senators who are up in age. California's Ms. Feinstein is 87, yes? In Vermont (with a republican governor) Mr. Sanders is 79, and Mr. Leahy is 80. In Massachussetts (Republican Charlie Baker is governor), Ms. Warren is 71, Mr. Markey is 74. In all cases where somebody is clearly age 70+, there should be somebody being groomed to run for office, whenever the sitting senator(s) retire-- and of course, should anyone die while in office, if the governor is still a Republican, it is guaranteed that a Republican will be picked by that governor. With the Georgia senate races still undecided yet, this is going to be an important issue to manage, regardless of what the outcome is there. Credible people have to be groomed to run, including in "red" states.

Contrary to belief other factions in the Democratic party do invest in setting up younger generations to replace them, and they're not short on options. The reason these up and comers aren't talked about as much is because they're not high profile, it's the same reason the majority of the Justice Democrats nobody knows except for people like AOC. The left is vastly less organised, but need to catch up to the conservative, liberal and centrist factions in having a stable bench in the wings - the problem is Sanders is unique as leader among the leftist politicians and he has no successor. Even AOC has shown reluctance about being the next leader of the left and is playing it year by year, because where she is right now has been breaking her from the pressure - both from attacks on the right and being elevated as the new left wing running for president when she's of age. There are others, but no leftist politicians match her for taking in that spot as smoothly as he was, not that she wouldn't have problems he didn't since she's a woman and not white.

I notice we haven't been hearing as much about how senile Biden is (neither on this board, nor by Trump, nor by bot twitter).

Included in that list (but aren't associated with Russians)... Two CSGOPOTD inductees!

    -Chris Collins (insider trading)
-Duncan Hunter (campaign finance fraud/adultery funded by said financial fraud that he tried blaming on the wife he was cheating on)

These are the first and second members of Congress to have endorsed Donald Trump. Jeff Sessions being the first Senator. And yes, they were guilty as F*** of being white collar criminals but were avoiding jail time... but they might know where some bodies are buried, so to speak, so...

Everyone realized Trump is pissing away his remaining life expectancy fighting against the law and the civilized world while Biden basically just gets ready for a new job, with a loving family to boot.

Perhaps not until he takes up office in January. Wait until you see him remembering the nuclear launch codes.

I don't have so much as one iota of sympathy for Moscow Mitch who sat on a relief bill since May because he's a miserable freaking bastard. If Donnie Dumbass, clearly looking for kudos before he's kicked out on January 20th, wants to send me two grand instead of a mere $600, I'll take it. GLADLY!

Donald Trump undermines his own Treasury Secretary and the GOP Senate (who are fighting for control in Georgia, and this bill's success depends on it). He does so because... let's be honest, he probably thinks he's making the Democrats look "cheap" while he's "far more generous" by offering more money. He wanted to distract everyone from his first round of s***ty outrageous pardons. But really, it's going to be his ego, and that he thought he wasn't getting enough credit for the second stimulus.

Which, he almost definitely doesn't deserve any because he's done f*** all since May, and most definitely f*** all since Election Day as he's flailed about for six weeks with election conspiracy theories.

Trump wants to prove he's a better deal-maker, and instead, is going to own-goal this, like he does in EVERY NEGOTIATION HE'S EVER BEEN IN ON.

These last four weeks are not gonna end enough.

O the plus side, watching Moscow Mitch scramble to find a way to tank it and blame the Democrats will be mildly entertaining.

Early voting has already been underway in Georgia, and is happening in again, record numbers. Higher turnout not being a thing that favors the GOP, and the headlines about Loeffler and Perdue insider trading/meeting with white nationalists for selfies/attacking the faith of the Reverend/Not giving a s*** about Covid-19 stimulus...

Like, these are people with the motivation to boot these f***ers out. I'm trying to not be too hopeful given the number of s***bag Senators that won re-election despite trailing in EVERY poll going into November, but it's looking like it could be two blue Senate seats in Georgia.

And again, should that happen, Stacey Abrams is entitled to a home cooked meal at my house any time she passes by, at any hour for the rest of her natural life if she makes that a thing. She's a patron saint of democracy right now.

On this date in 2018, “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day” profiled Rich Hobson, a failed candidate in 2018 for the U.S. House of Representatives seat to represent Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District. Hobson finished a distant fourth in the GOP Primary for this seat with about only 7.5% of the vote, and well behind the incumbent and CSGOPOTD alumni Martha Roby. So what is it about Rich Hobson that makes him worthy of one of our profiles? Well, Hobson was Roy Moore’s campaign manager during his disastrous run for U.S. Senate in Alabama in the last part of 2017. And it isn’t just that he’s a die-hard Roy Moore supporter to this day, still standing by the racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, pedophilic theocrat… we just think back to Moore’s campaign and realize how he was extraordinarily bad at his job. Even when you take the details about how terrible Roy Moore is… what the hell was up with coming up with the gimmick of having him badly ride a horse to the polls like a drunken John Wayne movie villain on multiple occasions? We’ll not that Hobson’s campaign platform is almost identical to Moore’s pathlogically insane one, including his passion for the highly unconstitutional idea of putting Ten Commandments monuments in government buildings. Anyway, Hobson thought he would score points with GOP primary voters by giving away AR-15s at campaign events, because there aren’t enough of them floating around this country already, and also, he was dumb enough to campaign with his old pal, the accused pedophile himself. Because he remains that brilliant of a campaign strategist.

On this date in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, as well as in 2019, “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day posted profiles of Montana State Senator Keith Regier, who has repeatedly tried to create laws criminalizing “attacks upon an unborn child” that are blatant attempts at overriding Roe v. Wade, and in defending those sorts of laws, has on more than one occasion compared pregnant women to cattle. His problems with the female gender don’t end there, as Regier attempted to re-write sumptuary laws in the state capitol to keep female legislators from showing too much knee. Regier also tried manufacturing outrage over “Obamaphones”, a right-wing myth that President Obama started giving out free phones to minorities that is based on an insane version of reality where the program of getting welfare recipients functioning phones established during the Reagan presidency is now a conspiracy being perpetrated by Obama. He has voted for laws to attempt to nullify federal firearm laws, as well as voted to drug test welfare recipients, as well. In Keith Regier’s first term in the Montana State Senate he has tried passing anti-abortion legislation in the form of a “fetal pain” bill, and sabotaged a bill aimed at curtailing revenge porn by inserting language that indicates it’s only a crime if a person “financially profits” from it, a new form of anti-woman dickery from Keith. It also ignores the fact that the main motivating factor is right in the name of the crime “REVENGE porn”. Regier also began dabbling in Islamophobia, by pushing for a bill to attempt to create an unnecessary ban Sharia Law in Montana that could inadvertently affect how tribal law is conducted on many Native American reservations in the state in its poorly thought out language.

Since we last updated our profile on Keith Regier, he voted for a bill to attempt to ban abortion at 20 weeks in Montana that won’t hold up in courts. Regier won re-election in November with 55% of the vote, and the only good news we have about him as that he will face term limits in 2024.

Honestly, the idea of Biden taking Georgia never crossed my mind, but nothing motivates voters like success. Having seen their state flip to Biden, blue-leaning voters now know they can win state-wide desptie everything, and that makes all the difference in encouraging turn out.

That's commerce, if it wasn't money it'd be something else. It's hardly exclusive to capitalism.
