FBI Says White Supremacists Plotted Attack on U.S. Power Grid

Minneapolis (AP) -- White supremacists plotted to attack power stations in the southeastern U.S., and an Ohio teenager who allegedly shared the plan said he wanted the group to be “operational” on a fast-tracked timeline if President Donald Trump were to lose his re-election bid, the FBI alleges in an affidavit that was mistakenly unsealed.

The teen was in a text group with more than a dozen people in the fall of 2019 when he introduced the idea of saving money to buy a ranch where they could participate in militant training, according to the affidavit, which was filed under seal along with a search warrant application in Wisconsin’s Eastern U.S. District Court in March. The documents were inadvertently unsealed last week before the mistake was discovered and they were quickly sealed again.

Last week, trump was talked out of the $2000 stimulus checks and now he's all for it? I'm just talking out of my ass here but I think trump is now for it because he's pissed at the GOP for not supporter his bogus election fraud claims.

The whole situation is weird. If he really "believed" in the checks Dems have been proposing it for MONTHS. They always wanted more direct payment because it proved the first time that money was actually spent and did have an effect on stimulus as planned.

Why did he let the GOP put their necks out like this and go ahead with it? He clearly didn't indicate to them that he was going to sell them out as being too stingy on this. They all bend over backwards to for the most part support every wacky statement he makes or play up hopes that the election is still "up in the air". And he just shits on them publicly.

Same with the republican state reps he is basing his whole stop the steal bs on. Hes calling them incompetent and calling the elections they held riddled with "issues" Threatening to primary them if they don't hand wins over. Why do they put up with it?

    One guy's take...

For years now, the Republican's "Sixty Second Pitch..." has essentially amounted to something along the lines of "Washington Is The Whole Problem..."

Once you've put your chips on that, what are you going to do?

Actually tell them that "The Vanishing Coin..." trick is Chapstick and not actual magic?

Because they need the support of Trump’s base, especially for midterms in 2022. If the GOP loses the Trumpanzees, the party as a whole will be toast.

Well, Pelosi asked for unanimous consent for the $2000 checks, and McCarthy said no. And he may be releasing his own bill that reduces foreign aid- the foreign aid the Republican's wanted in there in the first place.

Conservatives to Start Their Own Party? I Hope So

As the Trump presidency heads into the sunset, kicking and screaming, one of the most important questions that will shape American politics at the local, state and national levels is this: Can Donald Trump maintain his iron grip over the Republican Party when he is out of office?

This is what we know for sure: He damn well intends to try and is amassing a pile of cash to do so. And here is what I predict: If Trump keeps delegitimizing Joe Biden’s presidency and demanding loyalty for his extreme behavior, the G.O.P. could fully fracture — splitting between principled Republicans and unprincipled Republicans. Trump then might have done America the greatest favor possible: stimulating the birth of a new principled conservative party.

Santa, if you’re listening, that’s what I want for Christmas!

    Got one for ya, WBE.

    https://www.oregonlive.com/politics/...otections.html

Oregon Sen. Dallas Heard ripped off his mask during the opening hours of the Legislature’s third special session this year, protesting Democratic leaders requiring face coverings and closing the Capitol to the public as a coronavirus precaution.

Calling the daylong meeting an “illegitimate session,” the Republican lawmaker from Roseburg said he would have worn the mask if asked, “but you commanded it, and therefore I declare my right to protest against your false authority.”

Heard represents Roseburg, the seat of Douglas County, where two major outbreaks recently occurred after a person went to work despite feeling ill. County officials said the person later tested positive for COVID-19 and, within two weeks, one of two related outbreaks killed at least seven people -- nearly 20% of the county’s total coronavirus fatalities since the pandemic began.

The county’s second outbreak forced more than 300 people into quarantine.

Heard argued that state lawmakers and Gov. Kate Brown’s decision to close the Capitol to the public and to require masks was an “intimidation of the people and children of God.”

“This is His kingdom, not ours,” Heard said during the morning session. “The days of your unchecked assault against our freedoms and His children is over. You have oppressed the free peoples of Oregon.”

I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP

Oh, you're absolutely right, in so far as Christian interpretation of the Pharisee movement is concerned.

Trump's ability to grift is awe inspiring, all that money's going into his bank account not a new party.

A fracture of the GOP certainly would be highly interesting. On one side, you'd have that principled conservative party with rational, levelheaded adults, and on the other, the Trump Party with all the hard right wing, conspiracy crazed, foam at the mouth lunatics. People have been moaning about the need for a third political party for years, well, this is what we might end up with.
