Well the EC is finally over.

It was kind of embarrassing watching all the objections go:
"Did you submit it in writing? Did a member of the House and Senate sign it?"
"Well ... We filled it out but the Senator/Congress Member pulled out."
    "Motion failed."

For those that want to know. The Senator from Illinois that was pointing out a lot of the issues is Dick Durbin, he's (right now) the house minority whip (second under the leader) and will be the Majority Whip in the near future. He also is apparently taking over a post from Finestine for the Judicial committee as the next highest senior officer when she retires, if I'm recalling correctly. It's late.

Also did anyone see about Harris (R) trying to start a fist fight with Allard (D) and not realizing that A. he'd be going after a former pro NFL football player, and B. the Sargent at Arms had come in and has the right to mace him.

In the British Parliament they have an actual mace, so that was my immediate mental image.

Oregon's lone Republican congressman is an absolute profile in courage.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...?ocid=msedgdhp

]What do you have to say about weeks of false and baseless claims by President Trump about the outcome of the election?

Well, you’d have to be more specific in your questions. I think the challenge for all of us is to sort through the situation as it now exists, what we’re supposed to be doing when it comes to the Electoral College and its outcome and get it right when it comes to protecting our constitutional dictates. That’s what we should be focusing on now. As far as judging the president, I don’t see how that’s very productive right now.
Were you surprised protesters breached the U.S. Capitol, since something similar was attempted at the Oregon state Capitol just a few weeks ago by similar folks?

Actually, I think the way I’d rather put your question or answer your question is to point out the failure of those in Portland to appropriately manage the 100 days of burnings and riots and property destruction that probably convinced a lot of people that law enforcement didn’t exist anymore in big cities and encouraged this kind of activity.

This was a security failure and incompetence and not necessarily a case of too little security. If the police treated them a quarter of how badly they treated BLM this wouldn't have gotten as far as it did.

    * I say charitable in assuming the police had the best of intentions to safeguard the lives of all US Congressmen and I am sure that senior officials and others never intended outright treason, yet at the same time, I can't not imagine the light touch is a result of their collusion with Trump and falling on him calling for a march to Congress.
The Washington police reaction to BLM compared to the Trump insurgents is staggering.

Maga v BLM: how police handled the Capitol mob and George Floyd activists – in pictures

The contrast between the law enforcement reaction to the storming of the Capitol on Wednesday and the suppression of peaceful protests in the summer is not just stark – it is black and white.

The Black Lives Matter demonstrators crowd outside the White House on 1 June was a block away from the building and made no attempt to breach its security. It was a mostly Black crowd, and it was charged by a force made up of Washington police, US Park police, over 5,000 national guard troops and federal agencies like the bureau of prisons. An army helicopter swooped low over the heads of the protesters. Teargas, batons and horses were used to clear a block so that Donald Trump could stage a photo op outside a church across the road. A national guard commander later admitted there had been “excessive use of force”.

The events in Lafayette Park in June 2020 represented a defining moment of the Trump presidency. So will 6 January 2021. The mob that stormed the seat of US democracy on Wednesday had openly talked about such a plan, were explicitly intent on overturning a fair election, and some had hinted they might be carrying guns. They were almost all white. Many were openly white supremacists, and yet the thin Capitol police collapsed in their path.

Does anyone else think all of the pointless stalling and open coddling of terrorists was just so they could push the final vote to the middle of the night on the 7th?
They said Biden wouldn't be elected on the 6th, and they meant it.

It is tempting to make of this a matter of racism… but the difference is that the insurgents were backed by the President of United States.

No their main goal was to make sure he wasn't voted on at all. The person who grabbed the electoral votes in leaving will be remembered for saving the process. Cause it would have delayed everything for weeks longer.

Unless I misunderstand how the process works, that wouldn't have stopped Trump from being forced to leave office on the 20th while Nancy Pelosi assumed the presidency until the count was completed. Now, I hope there had been copies of the votes in a secure location as a safegaurd against what happened yesterday. And, if that wasn't the case, that process should be immediately instituted.

So, are the police in the capital are super incompetent or is there something going on here? Because nothing about the reports make sense.

Also, you people need to stop falling for the obvious attempts to make the people divided. This has nothing to do with racism.
