Thanks. It must have been just a temporary glitch in my connection. I did notice the posting continued in the midnight hour. Everything seems to be OK on my end

Robinhood app put a halt on trade of Gamestop stock. This pissed off a whole lot of people. They got AOC on the radar now.

The apparently drunk lady Rudy Giuliani dragged out as his "witness to election fraud", Melissa Carone is running as a Republican for the Michigan State legislature.

In her announcement, she not only continued lying about voter fraud but vomited out a conspiracy from her we hadn't seen her spew yet... she was 1/6 was the work of Antifa.

A reminder, she also already has a criminal record.

    These people are a joke
This is ridiculous, and I hope they look into the actions of the companies here.

Experienced stock sellers wanted to take advantage of people ignorant about the stock market by shorting stock. They were unaware of the ability of redditors to mobilize, and stood to lose money, which is always a possible outcome in the stock market.

It seems they want to have financial services companies manipulating things in favor of conventional wisdom.

Voting against certifying election results isn't the thing that marks Majorie-Green and Boebert as crazy and beyond the pale.

If it was, you'd have to argue that Democratic members of Congress who voted against certifying the results in 2016 are the same level of crazy as Majorie-Greene and Boebert.

I do think there is a fair argument that all of them crossed the line, and should be kicked out. However, the Democrats who voted against certifying the results when Trump won in 2016 do seem to be in good standing with the party. Jamie Raskin was one of the House impeachment managers, while Jim McGovern became chair of the House Rules committee, Raul Grijalva became Chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, and Maxine Waters became Chair of the House Financial Services Committee.

You're undercounting 2. It's, at this time in the House, Taylor-Greene. Boebert. Biggs. Gosar. Brooks. Cawthorn. Gohmert. Harris. All of them are under a looking glass, and oh yeah, there were 140 people who voted against - certifying the election results. But for the hard-core conspiracy theory seditionists? You're talking probably 8.

Let's check your denominator. Overcounted. 435 is total House members. Convenient you're padding the numbers by including the Democratic half when it's convenient. 8 of 211. It's more like 4%, and by the certification votes of people who showed they'll vote for seditionists, it's a staggering 2/3 of your tainted party.

And... frankly f***ing one seditionist in your party seems embarrassing. Let alone the percentage.
I was only considering Taylor-Greene and Boebert because the post I was responding to was about them. The post I was responding to was "To anyone who said over the last four years that we just had to wait for all the old white men to die, is Marjorie Taylor-Greene an old white man? Is Lauren Boebert? Make no mistake, there is a new generation of white supremacist, racist assholes and they are gaining power in the Republican Party. We cannot be complacent. We have to fight them any way we can."

The point was that their power is limited because they are part of a 435 member body.

If you think of Boebert and Majorie-Greene as a share of the House Republicans, it still comes down to two out of 211.

This doesn't mean that they're the only flawed Republicans. Their names came up as being particularly flawed.

The problem with expanding the registry is that it changes the goal-posts in a way that excludes the things that make Boebert and Taylor-Greene "special" because the criteria would have to be what these eight members of Congress have in common (or what makes all of them have done that is on the level of what Taylor-Greene or Boebert did.)
    Sincerely,

AOC's response to Cruz does suggest she's not interested in tackling the issue. Insisting that someone who wants to work with you in a bipartisan way resign isn't a way to get good results.

This is sad, but we don't know why it happened. It could have been trauma. It could have been disappointment in colleagues who were in favor of the rioters. It could have been something else.

It's the whole 'Being complicit in an attack on the US government that, if successful, would have seen her dead' thing that she takes issue with. I'd say that's a fair complaint

Well I guess they can breathe a sigh of relief that Trump isn’t going to start a new party, though I’m sure that was all talk to begin with...

He's complicit in the capitol attack. She would have undoubtedly been killed if those rioters got a hold of her. Her hostility is understandable. If I was a senator on the other side it would take all the composure in me for it to be not "on sight" when it comes to Ted Cruz.

I guess you have to make Donald feel he's still the President, I mean helping the Republicans take the house in 2022...just like he helped the GOP take Georgia.

Let's not forget; they were the ones who were elected. More than a handful of candidates this past election year ran while openly or passively holding QAnon beliefs, like Angela Stanton-King (not related to the MLK family by blood, but is associated with them nonetheless, so she uses the "King" moniker to make her sound legitimate and infamously said QAnon was real in an interivew) in Georgia and Lauren Witzke in Delaware (who baselessly called her opponent a "Satanist" and a "Christian hating baby-killer", but also is a Flat Earther), and those were major offices. There's people in lower levels that likely got in that hold those insane views since those elections get nowhere near as much traction.

“A Republican majority will listen to our fellow Americans and solve the challenges facing our nation.”

Back when they were in the majority in the senate they sure listened when they stalled COVID-19 relief legislation for months, 2,000$ checks when the majority of people from both parties wanted it. Or when they do tax cuts for the 1%, or when they tried to take away healthcare for millions without having any plan to replace it.
