As of 16 hours ago, her vacation request has been granted:

A federal judge ruled in favor of Cudd's request on Friday afternoon, granting the Texas florist's motion to visit Mexico for a "planned and prepaid" four-day weekend retreat with her employees later this month in Riviera Maya.

Judge Trevor McFadden of the DC District Court signed the order, noting that Cudd has no prior criminal history. McFadden, a 2017 Trump appointee, also said there was no evidence suggesting she posed a danger to others or was a flight risk.

Of course, she could always thumb her nose and stay down there. But I doubt Mexico would shield her.

Once down there she could ask fro political asylum from any country that is not that fond of the US. She's a flight risk and no one should allow her to travel.

He doesn't have to appear in court again until March 10, and the trial is scheduled to begin March 29.

Agreed. With Trump gone, I'm sure Mexico would want to establish friendly relations with the new administration, and shielding that harridan would not help repair the relationship.

I don't think Mexico would give her asylum. She'd have to go further south into South America or leave this hemisphere altogether.

And I don't think anything could stop her from leaving Mexico and hole up somewhere else for a while. Of course, this assumes she could pay for her room and lodgings for an extended lenght of time somewhere. Nothing would surprise me these days.

It's pretty common to refer to former Presidents as "President."

The etiquette rule had been that if only one person holds a title, you should not refer to them by that title, but by a prior honorific that applies to more than one person. So if you see Barack Obama anywhere, you should call him Senator Obama. If you see Bill Clinton, you should call him Governor Clinton.

Well first, if I see Barack Obama anywhere, I would refer to him as PRESIDENT Obama. You know, that job he held for two terms after he was a Senator.

Second, while I'm aware that former Presidents can still be called 'President So-and-So', it's more the fact that Trump seems to really believe that he still IS the President of the United States. So if he still believes he's President, than there should be no question that he CAN be impeached.

This is exactly what the title says. As always The GOP has accused the democrats of doing what GOP is indeed doing.

If there a legal thing for a former president not to be impeached then there is still that. Just because he believes himself to be president does not make him legal president. I like to believe I am great at basketball but that does not make me Michael Jordan.

So him believing he is president does not from a legal stand point destroy his defense if it turns out a former president can not be impeached.

Well, William Worth Bellknap was impeached by the House even after leaving office - he was Grant's Secretary of War - but he wasn't convicted by the Senate. Many of the votes to acquit were due to those Senators believing that one couldn't be impeached after leaving office.
