Let's hope that Trump legal entanglements will really get hot now that he's out of office.....Manhattan District Attorney recruits Top Prosecutor for Trump Inquiry

As the Manhattan district attorney’s office steps up the criminal investigation of Donald J. Trump, it has reached outside its ranks to enlist a prominent former federal prosecutor to help scrutinize financial dealings at the former president’s company, according to several people with knowledge of the matter.

The former prosecutor, Mark F. Pomerantz, has deep experience investigating and defending white-collar and organized crime cases, bolstering the team under District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. that is examining Mr. Trump and his family business, the Trump Organization.
It also should be noted that Pomerantz prosecuted the case against mob boss John Gotti. Trump will be up to his neck in legal fees but he will probably syphon money from his super pac. But I hope he will be spending a lot of time in court. He's notoriously bad at testimony. He even ratted on himself to Lester Holt in that infamous interview after he fired Comey.

He also had to admit under oath that he lied 30 times in a libel case that he lost back in 2011 concerning author Timothy O'Brien's book Trump Nation

A decade ago, my lawyers questioned Trump under oath during a deposition in a libel case he filed against me for a biography I wrote, "TrumpNation." (Trump lost the case in 2011.) Trump had to acknowledge 30 times during that deposition that he had lied over the years about a wide range of issues: his ownership stake in a large Manhattan real estate development, the cost of a membership to one of his golf clubs, the size of the Trump Organization, his wealth, the rate for his speaking appearances, how many condos he had sold, the debt he owed, and whether he borrowed money from his family to stave off personal bankruptcy.

Trump Ramps Up Efforts To Retain Control Of The Republican Party By Attacking McConnell

After leaving in disgrace following his impeachment for inciting a mob attack on the U.S. Capitol, the former president wants to consolidate his hold on the GOP. Once they were allies (of a sort), now they're enemies. I hate Moscow Mitch, but I'd bet on him being last man standing in a throwdown with Trump.

Sen. John Thune says Trump's GOP allies are engaging in 'cancel culture'

Sen. John Thune is criticizing Republican activists and party leaders for engaging in “cancel culture” by rushing to censure GOP senators who found former President Donald Trump guilty of inciting an insurrection.

In his first interview since he voted to acquit Trump, the Senate’s No. 2 Republican on Thursday defended fellow Republicans who sided with Democrats on the “vote of conscience” and warned against shutting out dissenting voices in the party.

“There was a strong case made,” Thune said of the Democrats’ impeachment presentation. “People could come to different conclusions. If we’re going to criticize the media and the left for cancel culture, we can’t be doing that ourselves.”

Thune’s remarks were his first explaining his vote in Trump’s trial and assessing the turbulent GOP politics the former president has left behind. Thune, who is facing reelection next year in deeply conservative South Dakota, is among several establishment Republicans grappling with how to reclaim control of a party dominated by Trump and his most ardent supporters for years.

Ted Cruz Abandons Millions of Freezing Texans and His Poodle, Snowflake

After jaunting off to Cancún with his family Wednesday night, Senator Ted Cruz explained that he was merely escorting his teenage girls on a vacation trip with their friends. In an apparent bid for sympathy, he noted that, like millions of other Texans, “our family lost heat and water.” Cynics immediately cast doubt on this claim, so this afternoon I decided to check out the senator’s power situation for myself. Supplied with Cruz’s address by a knowledgeable friend, I drove the fifteen minutes from my Houston apartment to the uber-rich River Oaks neighborhood where Cruz lives.

From the street, Cruz’s white, Colonial Revival–style mansion looked dark and uninhabited. A neighbor informed me that the block had indeed lost power before finally getting it back late Wednesday night. A glance at the lighted lanterns flanking the doorways of other homes on the block confirmed this. The senator’s story appeared to check out. But then I heard barking and noticed a small, white dog looking out the bottom right pane of glass in the senator’s front door. Had Cruz left his dog behind?
As I approached to knock, a man stepped out of the Suburban parked in Cruz’s driveway. “Is this Senator Cruz’s house?” I asked. He said it was, that Cruz wasn’t home, and identified himself as a security guard. When asked who was taking care of the dog, the guard volunteered that he was. Reassured of the dog’s well-being, I returned to my car. Before leaving, though, I took a photo of the house from my car window, making sure not to include the house address.

In the end, nothing will happen to Cruz, no Republican will call for him to resign. And remember, he had a hand in the January 6th attack on the Gapitol as well.

But in 4 years, the idiots in Texas will re-elect him after he loses his bid for the GOP nomination.

And speaking of the idiots in Texas, I see no repercussions on their State elected officials after this debacle with their grid. And I see the GOP State legislature passing MORE deregulation.

Problem is, Mitch doesn't seem like the type of guy to inspire fanatical, brainless supporters to his side the way Trump does. I don't think Mitch would be able to stir up a crowd the way Trump did on January 6th.
